This is our third time here, prior to this the kids were toddlers and tweens. The place was previously just a butterfly farm. Alot of improvements after it was rebranded to Entopia. More insects and reptiles was on display with different types of “worlds” were made as part of the journey through the park.

They also had friendly staff, Remy was exceptionally cool & simply awesome! He was fun and gave out alot of interesting facts to my teens. He managed to keep my teens interested by letting them touch a scorpion and spider web. He even took the time to explain in detail on the other insects and reptiles that he thought would interest us.

The only set back is that, the place didn’t have anymore staff like Remy, the rest of the park left us with just simple facts on the information board to keep us interested.

This place is very suitable for hiking and people can also enjoy the nature during weekend. The beach and sea water is clean and clear!! It is worth to be there even hiking is very tired for me. I took around 2 hours to be there but this varies to people!

Trail to Monkey Beach currently closed se we took a short boat ride. Had a nice BBQ lunch at one of the little food places. The male Monkeys are aggressive when food is around so be aware. Nice beach for swimming but not much else to do. The lake is dried up due to the drought

My partner and I have done cookery classes in Istanbul and Barcelona so wanted to do one in Penang while here visiting his dad. After research, he picked Tropical Spice Garden and we weren’t disappointed. Beatrice, our eco friendly guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the variety of plants and spices in the abundant garden. We spent about an hour with her and then were shown to the cookery school that is in the grounds.
Jamie (without the Oliver) is very friendly. She’s got a masters in politics from Reading University so understands British sense of humour!
We each had a cooking station so were able to all make our own lunch - unlike other places where you make part of a bigger meal. She was always on hand with tips and encouragement and very knowledgeable too.
We all sat down at the end and ate the meals we had prepared.
She changes the menu every week so you get a variety of dishes. I would highly recommend it if you want to find out more about Malaysian food - which is very much part of life here.
