Such an interesting place and very photogenic too. With a turbine rather than a water wheel. The day that we visited we were able to speak to one of the volunteers who has learnt to mill the flour there. They were very informative and helpful in increasing our understanding of the mill. Being an old building there are lots of nooks and crannies accessed by stairs etc., so be prepared to take some care when moving about. There is limited car parking on site and turning around if it is full can take a bit of doing. The car park is not suitable for large vehicles either. It being full when we got there, we parked on the street a few hundred yards further into the houses and walked the short distance back.

It is quite rare that you get the chance to visit a normal domestic building of this age anywhere in the world, and one that looks like you could still inhabit it too. Fiddleford Manor, near Sturminster Newton, was completed in about 1370 and although some alterations have taken place over the years it is said to have the finest roof timbers in Dorset. It first belonged to William Latimer, sheriff of Somerset and Dorset. Apart from the spectacular timbers there are also traces of wall paintings.
The manor is now managed by English Heritage and is free to visit.

    Attended The Three Degrees concert

Lovely little theatre. Everyone we met was a credit to the venue......the people greeting as you enter....the lady sorting our pre-booked tickets....the people serving in the bar, and others doing various things. You got the feeling they were proud of the place and happy to be there.

It's a modern building, clean and well cared for, including the toilets. Bar prices were very fair. Free parking was available adjacent to the theatre - this was in the evening and I think it differs during the daytime.

Special thanks to the lady in the auditorium who checked our tickets - she saw we were in different rows (booked late) and sorted out seats together without us asking. It really made the evening special.

The Three Degrees were outstanding. The three ladies compliment each other beautifully with real depth and emotion. No gimmicks, just pure class. The supporting band have been with them for quite a few years now and are superb. This was the last staged performance of the tour and they must have been tired, but it didn't show. Valerie Holiday - the "spokeswoman" of the three - always says a few words of thanks: She is humble, dignified and speaks from the heart.

This review may be a little biased towards the group - we really adore them! This was the 59th anniversary tour , and yes ,of course they have had different members over the years. Hopefully they will return next year for The 60th Anniversary.

Thank you to The Exchange for a lovely evening

Beautiful Church in Marnhull. Looks to be very active. We loved the peace and tranquillity when visiting. If you are in the area, weā€™ll worth a visit

This is a well set out secure dog field. Despite the previous weeks weather it was surprisingly dry. Lots to interest dogs, tyres, lots of places to sniff and water! Our Springer was straight in the muddy water but it wasn't a problem because they have dog washing facilities alongside a coffee hut and Portaloo.

Super friendly staff and very knowledgeable. If we lived here, we'd be back every week.

I have used them twice firstly for a complete reframing and mount and most recently they were very helpful in trimming to fit an old picture to fit into a period frame..friendly staff..look forward to using them again soon

Lovey place to cycle or walk along this old train track. It goes as far as Blandford Forum (about 9 1/2 miles) there are places to stop at, such as the Fiddleford Inn, Bere Marsh farm. Where there is The Buzz Cafe and Shillingstone heritage steam railway and cafe.

Been going here for years as it's nice and local. Most of the animal food I buy here is great stuff. It is a little more expensive, but so convenient. Emma is lovely and always greets you with a smile and a friendly chat. John on the other hand is quiet and doesn't say a lot, hence 4 stars. A good local business overall but John needs to be more customer friendly.
