- Ralf WilhelmStuttgart, Germany73 contributionsLeaving for Tikal at 6 am and returning at 2 pm gave us the opportunity to visit this spot and we enjoyed it very much. Just a quick boat ride from the island and we were dropped with an aggreed pickup three hours later. The rope swing consists of various ropes that you catch climb up and use to swing over the water and drop into. Cool place. Few tables, chairs and hammocks available. Cold and hot drinks self service at moderate prices.Written 11 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - breninkenyaRingwood, UK79 contributionsOutstanding experience! Gobsmacked to find such a beautiful lodge with amazing food within such a remote setting.
We saw hummingbirds, herons, monkeys, crocs and the camp grey foxes. Stunning bird life (even a Potoo) in a peaceful and stunning location.
Edgar the chef produces superb food at every meal. The guides are incredibly knowledgeable and patient.
Whole experience fantastic.
We’re fortunate to have stayed in many ecolodges around the world and this is up there with the best.Written 16 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. He pointed out all the different "lookalike" formations and the bugs that live in the cave. - Steve JHalifax, Canada89 contributionsThis was an interesting way to be able to view animals from this region in a natural setting and was especially interesting in that they were rescued animals.Written 1 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kitty_MinoucheGeneva, Switzerland46 contributionsCathedral as any other the history how it was built and that the whole island is built on Mayan ruins is interesting but Cathedral it self nothing special.Written 29 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Giuseppe SAntwerp, Belgium864 contributionsThis little island reachable by lancha (small private boat) hosts a small and enjoyable museum with a collection of Mayan objects from the nearby ruins. Then you can follow the Lonely Planet advice and get a chilled drink at the bar.Written 26 February 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stephen LRye, UK14 contributionsI’d recommend the boat trip from Flores to San Miguel and the easy hike up to the Mirador and Tayasal as ‘must does’ if you have a spare half day whilst in Flores. There’s more excavated than in previous reviews and I, at least had the place to myself. If you’re a beach bum, there’s good swimming nearby too.Written 2 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stella e2 contributionsWe did our trip with Enrique as well. Awesome experience, great guide and unique opportunity to get in touch with Mayan history and Guatemala nature at the same time. - Richard BEdinburgh, UK4,011 contributionsA stunning lake with great views with the pretty island town of Flores. Flores is a pastel painted chabby chique town that serves as a gateway to Tikal.
There is plenty to do around the lake including dining and coffees. A beautiful lake well worth a visit.Written 2 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's pleasant to walk and only takes no more than a half an hour to walk around the whole town/island. There are a multitude of restaurants and bars on the western side, where sunsets can be observed, while the eastern side is more peaceful.Written 16 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
