Ceramics here are among our enduring favorites, wooden items that are a great pleasure to see, fine (as well as charming and fanciful) furniture, and a wide variety of potential gift items to take away for friends...
It has a very nice (and large) selection of crafts from area artisans: ceramics, jewelry, wood products, textiles, paintings, furniture - way too much to list here.

I bought 3 different varieties, and I had a very hard time narrowing it down to which 3! This little shop has a lot to offer, and is a must-stop when in Downtown Asheville!
The store has some clothing and soaps and lotions and candles besides all of the delicious honey.

The demonstrations are interesting and the artists like to answer questions! Lots of art and collectible pieces for sale although the price points are a bit high for a memento piece.
Just off the city center the shop has demos going all day and you can buy a beer at the shop bar to sip while you watch them create a masterpiece in glass.

The high ceilings, bookcases, cozy furniture, rugs, upstairs, downstairs area, plus seating outside, make you feel like you are in your own private library.
Our last visit was for a delicious dessert and coffee after having dinner downtown.

Malaprop’s is also on a picturesque street of shops, art stores, and restaurants (and the library) so makes a pleasant walk and shop experience.
Also, books had interesting arrangements by genre: banned books took up one end cap, along with sections such as beautiful books, top sellers of the week employees’ recommendations, and “blind date with a book.”

Browse all artists, if there is a piece in which you are interested, just save it to your “collection,” and type the staff a note.
Well worth a visit!

Many vendors, often carrying some of the same items, but a fun place to browse and find something authentic to bring home from North Carolina
... our departure, we checked out of our hotel, ate breakfast at the nearby Waffle House, and proceeded to the Farmers Market, where we bought lots of fresh produce, honey and even plants at the garden store/nursery.

What a great opportunity to see the work being done at Brian's shop (the How) and go to the studio to sit in several of these works of art and have the design explained (the Why).
Nicest man ever and plenty inventory to try out in his showroom.

If you're into antiques and numerous other things (slabs of wood comes to mind), then take some time to peruse history and see if anything appeals to your need for something unusual and perhaps rare.
A couple of extremely nice vendors and a lot of “others” with hidden gems.

It is in a small building and would be easy to miss (we had to double back because we missed it at first), but in that small building a fun and exciting treasure hunt awaits!
The shop is filled with beautiful rocks and has some very special artifacts that are very cool!!

She gives you some history on this art form and lets you practice color combinations on paper before moving on to your silk scarf that you will be able to take home.
I also got to marble a beautiful silk scarf and was super happy with the results and all I was able to take home.
