This is a great little museum - little being the operative word. It's basically all housed in one room but what there is, is nicely laid out, easy to read and for a donation of $10 was a nice way to spend an hour or so.

We saw Jim Caruso's Cast Party. We thought our teen would enjoy the open mic aspect. The performers were extremely talented and entertaining, so much so you couldn't wait to see what the next would do. The band was unbelievable. They accompanied most acts without sheet music and then Jim Caruso himself was effortlessly hilarious. We were sat at a table right in front, a couple feet from the stage. We all had a blast!

The club is quite small and the reservation is strongly recommended if you want to be sure to have a seat for the concert. You must take a drink. The music was fantastic. strongly recommended if you want to try an authentic jazz night.

First time and first night in New York. Had an absolutely great time in a brilliant venue. The staff were amazing, attentative but not intrusive. Would recommend to anyone wanting to hear some jazz in an amazing setting in New York.

This is shown as New York’s largest jazz club and, to be honest, this worried me. I wanted a small club for that special experience. However, I liked the sound of Joey Defransesco’s music so I booked to see him. Firstly, I subsequently realised I had double booked. I phoned the club and they couldn’t have been more helpful. I was keen to get a good table and we arrived at around 5.40 (just after the doors had opened) and were the first to arrive. In reality we could have arrived at 6.30 and still got a good table. The food was excellent but i suspect we should have shared a main course and ordered an extra side dish. The drinks were good, the service was satisfactory but the music was absolutely excellent. Ultimately that is the reason you go to a jazz club and we really enjoy listening to Joey’s magical trio. Could the set have been longer - well yes it could have been but you are only paying $35 a ticket so I think you have to be a bit realistic. Would we return - 100%.

When you want an authentic jazz experience, make sure you buy tickets for the village vanguard. Come early to have the best seats.

We had not been to Iridium mostly because we far prefer blues over jazz. But they have a blues series (is it new?) and we attended a great Charlie Musselwhite concert. Tables are shared (met a nice couple next to us) and are perpendicular to the stage, so your neck may be strained a bit. All the seats were good, we had paid more and sat in the section nearest the stage. No dance floor - all space covered by tables. Clean convenient bathroom. Wine was a small pour and I don't think it was the chardonnay I ordered. The food looked good and large portions, but this is only observation as we didn't order it. Staff was efficient with the checks, slow with the drinks in some cases (the couple next to us got their bottle of wine after their dinners were finished). Doors opened at 7:00 and they give you a little ticket while you are in line, to associate with your check. Some people didn't get the right check anyway. We really enjoyed the intimate venue and of course Charlie Musselwhite is fantastic, and a plus was that we could make an earlier train back to NJ as the concert itself was maybe 1.25 hours which was fine.

A wonderful intimate venue in the heart of Harlem. This is a converted ground floor appartment that has a small stage and can entertain 30 - 40 people. When we arrived we were told if we wanted any alcohol, we should bring our own but they do sell sodas. We went to the early session which started around 7.00 in the evening. A 4 piece group consisting of piano, base, drums and saxophone playing all instrumental music was really fantastic and for $30 was probably the best value we had all week. A very international audience and I would strongly recommend this venue to anyone visiting NYC.

Was ok - THE MUSIC WAS AMAZING—the food is just not good - the charcuterie board is not really a good charcuterie board -4 slices of meat the cheapest crackers you can find and pickled veggies plus mustard - no balance to it - throw a price of cheese on that board for crying out loud! Also the shrimp is like a cup of shrimp! Why? make your food look nice! Just so blah!
The service was good - we sat at the bar - so you don’t have to have a whole meal - 20$ minimum- but it adds up - it becomes an expensive 1 hour and a half -
Glad I tried it! Not sure it’s a repeat thing

This place is a TRIP. The quintessential NY funky place combined with authentic Japanese food and service.
We went on a Thursday night and it was packed. We had a wait as they literally replace tables one by one as they leave.
SO, get there early for Happy Hour, stake out a good spot and enjoy. It has a 2 hour limit per party so plan accordingly. We were at a tiny space inches from the band.

The Empress had Tanmen Noodle Soup, Tokyo style salt flavored ramen topped with pork and vegetables. DELICIOUS

    Prices are quite reasonable!

Ona recent trip to NYC, I was looking for a jazz venue that was open on Mondays and was very informal. Arthur’s looked promising. It is situated in a busy part of the West Village and is old, run down, and has lots of character. The house rules are “cash only” and “two drink minimum per set”. No cover, but remember the rules. Monday night is the Grove Street Stompers- a Groupon older guys who have been performing tougher their for 57 years.

We were taken to the basement and given an option to seat at any of the available tables. We choice one on the second row from the band.

We both had starters and mains. I had the artichoke toast and my friend the shrimp cocktail. For main we had the steak and the salmon. I have to admit that the salmon was one of the best I’ve ever had. Was delicious and everyone should try it.

The only issue was my friend’s drink. He ordered half a bottle of Prosecco which was served in non chilled glass which meant that the drink was flat. Also the waitress did not help as she served the bubbly like you do water.

Overall the service was very attentive there was only a delay on the bottled water we ordered.

The total bill came to $250 and that included the $25 cover per person.
