One of the most striking skyscrapers of an early 20 century era along with the Empire State building and Chrysler.
Terrific Gothic style high rise of a trade magnate close to NYC City Hall and its park, as well the Brooklyn bridge.

This is a very special and sacred place tucked away between several federal office buildings. There are a number of exhibits and signs explaining the significance of this monument as a place where African Americans buried members of their community and were able to practice their burial traditions.

Well you really can't get in or up close as there are security fences, but from the lovely park outside you can snap some good photos of the classic 19th Century architecture.

The Supreme Court in New York is in the Downtown area close to the financial district. It’s a very grand building and very much fit for purpose.

This is one of the most recognizable courthouses in the country. It's been the filming location for many movies and TV shows including Law and Order. It's close to several subway stops, the Brooklyn bridge and Chinatown. Take a few moments to walk around to the back of the courthouse to see the statues there as well.

This is a big civic building in the City Hall complex, actually the one you notice first when you arrive in the area because it is so tall and wide. Handsome old style.

Saint Peter’s Church is located near to the World Trade Centre. Nice to drop into when it’s open as it’s calming and quite.

These court and other office buildings (Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse + New York County Supreme Court) do not belong to the usual tourist attractions, Unless someone looks at a lot of law and orders TV series and just jumps as our protagonist sits on the stairs of this building :)

I wandered around the Oculus completely for the first time. The area around it is jsut about complete, so the design concept is more obvious and enjoyable. It's a very practical hub where lots of subway lines and the PATH come together, along with a lot of shopping and eating, all indoors. Outside you see the architecture.

This area houses the biggest and most impressive courts in Manhattan and the buildings are all very impressive from an architectural point of view.

This abstract sculpture on Foley Square immediately caught my attention when I came to look at the government buildings there. The black granite vertical work forms the center piece of a fountain, rising 50 feet into the air. It was inspired by the carved antelope headdresses of the Barmana people in the West African county of Mali. A horizontal boat-like feature that supports the piece alludes to the overseas voyage of enslaved Africans.

When I visited in early morning on a holiday weekend, only one person was near the fountain. He sat, reading a book. The lack of a crowd gave me the opportunity to quietly reflect on sculptor Lorenzo Pace's symbol of freedom and endurance.

Pace created the work in 2000. It stands near the colonial-era African American burial ground.

Our hotel and many of the things we visited were right on Broadway near the Woolworth building. Directly across the street was a nice park on a triangle lot with a great building. I had no idea it was City Hall.

Being a Scot, we had to go to St. Andrew's Church (the patron saint of Scotland) and were really glad we did. The building is quite wonderful inside, with very beautiful preservation of original features. The Sunday service was interesting, with a small community who made all feel inclusive. The calm in the storm effect was worth coming for.
