- Linda LCairo13 contributionsi went there to see Sam Heughan and Josh Horowitz do a live podcast. the theater is a decent size and has an interesting balcony. most everyone i spoke with could see well wherever they were seated. they had no trouble accomodating me in my electric wheelchair. they keep a space in the front row on the aisle for handicapped peopleWritten 28 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- arbknycBrooklyn, NY21 contributionsThe films shown here are curated with passion, intellect, respect for the filmmaker and his/her audience. Here in NYC we have a number of art house cinemas, but none invoke the timelessness of the genre quite like the Film Forum. Sign in to their website to get a true sense of what I'm saying. Additional perks: excellent coffee, organic chocolates and ice cream sandwiches, etc.Written 19 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jan DSaint Charles, MO351 contributionsOur group of three adults visited during the mid afternoon to see "Amazing Grace", and were reminded of the deep spiritual roots of the late Aretha Franklin in this outstanding documentary. On the main floor was a delightful Gourmet Cafe, and we went downstairs to the see the film, where they had a traditional concession stand as well. It's great to have theaters that show movies of real substance and true artistry.Written 1 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- GigeresqueNew York City, NY667 contributionsWe were at the Ballroom adjacent to the theatre for an event.
Clean venue with great catering.
Easy access for mass transportation or Uber to pick you up.Written 12 August 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Mella BNew York City, NY23 contributionsI love this movie theater. Best one in Manhattan!! Very comfy chairs where you can lead pretty far back and lots of leg room. I always enjoy coming here with my friend for movies on opening night. There's an arcade too. Overall just a really nice, fun movie theater with lots of space.Written 27 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- dustythoughtsManchester, CT1,567 contributionsI usually enjoy coming to this movie theater - it's conveniently located, there's always a movie I want to see at a time that works for me, and the seats are comfortable. It's a busy movie theater precisely because of its location, so buy tickets early if you want to ensure a good seat. Sometimes the escalators don't work, but they're fixed quickly. It's a large movie theater (3 floors), so there are plenty of movie options, and it's decorated nicely for a chain. The bathrooms could be cleaned more frequently, though.Written 20 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Olderwoman123New York City, NY2 contributionsAmazing movie with original footage from peace talks between Clinton and Arafat and Rabin The story is about the Rabin assassination .Written 25 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Bruce PQueenstown, New Zealand163 contributionsPopped in for a quick movie. Good little concept, perhaps a bit on the expensive side but then you are getting that bit extra than a normal theatre. We chose the lie down seats, which were pretty relaxing after a day on Liberty Island and Ellis Island sightseeing. Only complaint was the air conditioning was extremely cold.Written 3 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Karen S1 contributionOn a recent visit to New York, I visited the Quad Cinema as it was the only place not showing Disney or superhero movies. As the first multiplex in NY this place deserves a mention, it was very clean, classy and the staff were so friendly and helpful. It was a great night out for me and my grown up daughters who were visiting the city for the first time from the UK. We saw Silent Night which was festive but tragic.Written 4 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- finammaNew York City, NY6 contributionsThe place is really nice, staff was friendly, and although naturally an older location everything was clean and comfortable. Theater personality to it. Very pleased with my first experience.Written 10 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mari RBronx, NY51 contributionsi took my adult son to this theater because it was birthday and he wanted to hang out at 42nd street afterwards. i ordered the tickets amc website, we got there early, the ticket guy told us the theater was upstairs, the escalators were not working, had to climb the steps, my son ordered his snacks, we went inside the theater, the seats were not like the AMC theaters the recliners? this theater didn't have it. just seats that you have to push down with your butt. the move we saw was IT chapter 2.
the movie was great, sound was clear, the theater was clean. afterwards, we took the elevator, which by the way we didn't notice till got to the third floor.
but overall, nice theater.Written 20 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - CaroleIrlDublin, Ireland173 contributionsAmazing cinema .... so comfortable. Huge seats that recline. Clean cinema, great spot! Best cinema I have been to in NYC! Loved it!Written 26 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- matthiashessNew York City, NY230 contributionsI'll miss Sunshine with its unique atmosphere and film selection. There was always something interesting playing that no other theaters had. Closing it is such a disgrace--the theater could be preserved even with offices on top. The iconic facade should be preserved at the very least. The city is losing cultural treasures at an alarming pace, and destroying this one for a bland glass box would be a crime. I wish I had visited more!Written 29 January 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Ray G45 contributionsMy wife & I went here on a Saturday afternoon to see a movie that was not showing anywhere near our neighborhood. Its win-win situation when both spouses are actually into the exact same movie & want to see it badly enough to travel to unfamiliar territory to see it.The theatre itself & the movie were nice.Concession stand was decent, staff efficient, bathroom large & clean. However, come time to get back on our side of town the West side of Manhattan, the area is so remote that we honestly couldnt find the street we were being picked up from. The four corners of the theatre are surrounded by water, being in the financial district with a highway separating them! This is NOT an area to be in when it is cold outside & you have to pick your way thru the blocks.I had to call our driver to come find us.Even with navigation from the cellphone,it was still impossible to tell which way to walk. Not sure I would go here again. At least not in the winter time.Written 13 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
