Don't expect to check out any books at this library. They will not spare even one of their three Gutenberg Bibles. Spectacular collection of first editions are really not as interesting as the stunning architecture. I think JP Morgan was a bit of a not-very-nice-man (original word changed per Tripadvisor rules), but one good thing about the accumulation of great wealth is that it allows people to build exquisite things like this library. The garden is nothing to write home about, but it does offer a bit of respite from the hustle bustle. You must schedule your visit on line.

We visited New York Public Library while visiting the city. The building is spectacular architecture. The reading Room on the third floor contains a collection of portraits. The McGraw Rotunda is a display of murals of the power of the written word starting with Moses and the Ten Commandments, medieval monk-scribes, Guttenberg and his Bible and ending with a modern scene.

Finally, we toured “Treasures”, an exhibit of exceptional items from the Library’s collection, including a first publication of the King James’ Bible, a 1623 printing of Shakespeare’s works, Charles Dickens’ chair and writing desk and, most endearingly to our group, Christopher Robin’s original Pooh bear, Tigger, Kanga and Eeyore.

The New York Library is a fun, no charge site in the Big Apple.

Went there for the NY auto show and it was very good. We were a bit disappointed that the restaurants on the lowest level were closed. The three food choices on the 3rd level were burgers, pizza or chicken fingers. There is also Starbucks and concession stands with snacks. Bathrooms are clean. I think there should be another
coffee spot since not everyone can drink Starbucks.

I came by here to see a special exhibit of Stephen Sondheim's letters and work - it was well worth the trek to visit!

What a great venue! We loved it. We came to NYC (from Portland, OR) for 33 hours to see "Oresteia" and have some fun in the city - we'd been reading about the production in the NYT for at least 3 months, and wow, I'm so glad we did! The venue is incredible. Beautiful older building, great lighting, I wish we could have just hung out there for longer. Masks were required, which we appreciated, and proof of vax, too. And the location is great - we stayed at the Loews Regency, ate at Barbaresco, and went to the Armory, which was a perfect evening. No cab required, and plenty of time for a great meal, and a perfect play. Thank you to everyone at the Armory for making this such a great space for theater. Can't wait to come back.

HERE IS WHERE WE GO. !!!!! Why? Because my/our human people we will feel the under the exhibitions FANTASTIC RESOURCES of Arturo. WHO WAS Arturo? A Puerto Rican Black man! He resolved to get this history so we can unite. Stop fighting between the oppressed. LEARN more. RESEARCH beneath the exhibits. Make appointments. Delight in the microfiche and all the possibilities to follow YOUR choices about Black s . I DID and feel Paul Robeson, he and other communists of color : Claudia Jones..from Trinidad that the usa exploited and Banned. WE CAN BE INSPIRED!

For my LIttle 10 year old cousin. He delights in going to the "SHOP". TOYS in blackness. Books for babies. Oh Titi look here he said we can play this.

City Hall park sits very obviously in front of City Hall which is downtown Manhattan. There is also a visitors centre. Recommended.

The Jefferson Market library is an excellent building from the outside but very run down inside. The gardens beside it are nice. Worth a photo of the facade.

Best place to start your tour of Roosevelt Island. Buy one of their signature visitors maps for $1.00 and start walking the island. You can also buy snacks and all sorts of souvenirs here as well.

The tour guides here are very helpful and know the island well.

A great pit-stop for whatever weather. Airy, beautiful views in the library where you can drink and eat within reason (no loud crunching but plenty of coffee sipping and sandwich munching). Pull any volume of poetry published in the past 50 years in the US off the shelves, plus plenty of foreign translated into english poetry.

The park rangers on Liberty Island were wonderful - courteius, informative, helpful and very welcoming. On our arrival, we met Annie, who was just starting the morning shift. She chatted with us on our way to the Pedestal, showed us where to leave our bags, then checked our tickets. She never stopped smiling.
To Annie and the other rangers, a big thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Although you must be a member of this library to check out books, they do host lectures and other events open to the public. It's a lovely grand building and the children's rooms are most welcoming and attractive. If I lived in New York, I'd definitely join!

I previously had stayed in one like it in Europe and had a very bad experience. At first I was hesitant given the pervious experience. I was however very impressed by the place and would definitely stay again. The only room for improvement I found was, upon entry to the room the code is very loud, the motion sensor lights I found annoying and I usually enjoy a blanket to sleep so I found it hard to sleep with a bedsheet. Staying in a room with other people, I was hesitant to be worried about my belongings however, I found everyone kept them selves, nobody bothered anyone and never had an issue with internal noise from the property in regards to staying up at night. Of course, being in Manhattan expect there to be exterior noise from cars passing by and people and such. The property is in the process of being renovated as of this writing however, it did not make any problems for me.
