Recently remodeled and very informative! Good flow to the museum with interaction and original hand written notes from President Truman. I enjoyed seeing the White House OVAL office and his office left frozen in time. So much knowledge that every generation needs to see.

This house is gorgeous, but the Christmas decorations are breathtaking! Our tour guide Steve, was very knowledgeable and even treated us to a beautiful performance on the piano and organ in the music room. The Bingham Waggoner is a must see in Independence if you love history and beautiful old houses!

Go downtown to the visitor center and get your FREE ticket to tour the house. Watch the informative movie before touring the house. Go through the Nolan House across the street, too. It will make you appreciate history.

Tour guides were very informative about the interesting history of this house. It's worth your while to learn about how this house survived and to view all the objects it contains.

Having grown up on the west coast I have always been fascinated with the westward expansion of America during the 1800s. This museum definitely tells that story. The museum exhibits are laid out perfectly and informative. Learned about the other trails (Santa Fe trail) and what it was like for the travelers through their journals/letters on that are on display. I was actually surprised to hear that over 90 percent of the travelers made it.

Highly recommend this museum to anyone who loves America history!

Finding that the Kansas City metro has the largest public funded genealogy center in the country was an invitation to restart my family's research. I had the research my mother left to me but with no training in genealogy I didn't know what to do. The professionals at the Midwest Genealogy Center held classes and helped me not only make sense of what I had but how to advance my research. Ultimately, I learned enough to go on to become a Certified Oral Storyteller and presenting member of the Missouri Humanities Council Speaker's Bureau. I now speak about my great grandfather and original Buffalo Soldier from 1867, Pvt. Isaac Johnson.

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and patiently guide you through your search with many ways to discover your story. I most highly recommend becoming familiar with this jewel in the Kansas City area.

Would have given a five if they would’ve had better entrance for the parking, but the arena is awesome saw Billy Strings. I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the place.

The volunteer giving the free tour of the train Depot was very friendly and knowledgeable. Wished we had more time to finish the tour and the upstairs living quarters. The depot is beautifully restored and the artifacts on display truly tell how train life was in the past.
This is a must stop and see while you are visiting the National Frontier Trails museum next door

This is all you would expect from a small town square. It's got history. And it's got some hipster vibes here and there. A few hidden gems to discover.

    I liked the Fleming Park.

    There were many Palm trees.

There are also a lot of sits here. People can do listening with comedies or listening music and more.

    A must see!

We ended up on a tour. The guide was very informative. It is small but interesting. As a side note there is a man who does a historic wagon tour right outside the building and he has a few different options there was a lady who was going on it for the 90 minute tour so we did that. He was very informative and interactive. So when you’re at the jail if he is there check it out. It is his way of living and knows his history.
