We enjoyed the variety of history presented, not just Hawaiian but all the Polynesian cultures that inhabited these islands. Pretty amazing that in 4th century AD these outrigger canoes were regularly crossing vast expanses of the Pacific a thousand years before Columbus. The crew was fabulous. They made it fun but you could tell they were always thinking about safety. We saw lots of sea turtles up close and the water at Molokini was so clear it was like swimming in an aquarium! We had a fabulous tour guide who was both informative and entertaining and it was not as crowded at the summit as I imagined - everyone can get a good view but our driver made sure we got there in good time to secure great positions. The breakfast after at the Millhouse was also lovely and we booked an evening meal there later in our holiday which we could also recommend. - Elyse G2 contributionsThis experience was phenomenal. The staff and your guides did so much to help us with our small kids (ages 6,8) They enjoyed it so much, and had the best experience. We always felt safe and got to see many fish, turtles, and sea urchins. We even got to hold sea urchins. The tour guides have amazing attitudes and were very hands on with us being super helpful and awesome. We purchased the video of our experience, and will highly recommend anyone visiting do this with or without children. He was personal and provided additional assistance to my wife as a inexperienced swimmer, which made her feel more in the water. We saw lots of tropical fish and a couple of sea turtles. Scuba Steve was an AMAZING guide! You could feel Steve’s love and respect for nature as he educated us on sea-life and he took the time to truly answer our questions. Honestly I was the only one in my family that was a little anxious to snorkel further than 2 feet from a beach, but I was instantly relaxed by Steve and able to really enjoy the beauty under the water. It was truly incredible to see the sea turtles, eel, urchins, beautiful fish and all the fascinating life we don’t get to see besides on television. The kayak trip was so fun to do as a family and an experience we will never forget. - Jamie E1 contributionFrom start to finish, AMAZING! Seth was our guide, who was funny, helpful, and knowledgeable of everything from history of the snorkel site to all the sea life we could see. He kept us safe and entertained the entire time. Saw countless fish and turtles. The memory, photos, and videos will be cherished forever. Once we stepped out of the water my son and I decided we would definitely need to do this again.
Meet up area was easy to find and we had no problem finding parking. They kept our belongings safe so the only thing we had to do was enjoy ourselves. - Eric N1 contributionWe initially picked Maui Bombers because they were the only cycle company that would accommodate our family - we have two boys 12 and 10 who are avid bike riders but all other companies wouldn't let the 10-year-old ride. Well, I'm glad we found them because this was easily the highlight of our trip to Hawaii and my boys couldn't stop smiling after the trip.
The whole trip was top-notch, and since they only take small groups, it felt very personalized - the bike ride was just our guides and our family (6 people). They said this is pretty typical as their average group size is around 6 people, unlike competitors which are around 15 people.
Some of the extras that really make this trip stand out from others:
1) Our guide took lots of photos and videos (so we didn't have to) and just air-dropped them to us at the end of the ride. He even quickly edited a time-lapsed video of our decent. This was an awesome and unexpected surprise.
2) The freshly baked muffins (yum!).
3) Halfway through the trip you get lunch. But this isn't just a pre-packaged sandwich and a bag of chips. They take you to this cute little cafe where we got our own seating area to enjoy lunch. The food was great - make sure to get the lemonade with honey :-)
4) The lunch stop is in a city called Makawao, which is an old cowboy town that is now home to several art galleries, shops, and food options (including the Maui Cookie Lady). After lunch, the guides gave us time to walk around and explore the town. No pressure to stay on a schedule.
5) The guides were all knowledgable, energetic, and fun. They truly seemed to be having just as much fun as we were having and made sure we had the best experience.
6) Unexpected extras like stickers for our boys. At one point of the tour, you ride through some eucalyptus trees. My wife kept talking about how much she loved the smell of riding through the eucalyptus trees. While we were exploring the town, one of the guides picked a eucalyptus branch for my wife to take home (we kept it in our condo the rest of our trip)...just a wonderful, unexpected touch!
They obviously nail all of the basics as well - great equipment, excellent communication, etc.
