A fun ride hundreds of feet above the ground to beautiful views from the Sandia Peak. Trails for hikers of many levels go out from the peak.

National Museum of Nuclear Science and History was an unforgettable experience.

We started with the science part of the museum, the area in which I completely lack any expertise or even marginal ability to understand. My techie husband was glued to every board and read every single word.

Then we went to learn more about the Manhattan project and the Trinity Test, the first detonation of a nuclear weapon. It was conducted by the United States Army at 5:29 a.m. MWT on July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project directed by Robert Oppenheimer. The Trinity Test has happened right here in New Mexico.

It was fascinating to see the military planes on the airfield of the museum, part of the nuclear submarine, the rockets, etc.

Another treat was “Leonardo da Vinci Machines” exhibit, one more reminder what the Renaissance Man was all about. I visited his museum in Rome in December 2022 and had seen many of his machines, but this exhibit included some of the Leonardo’s machines, which are not on display anywhere else.

We spent three hours in the museum and could have spent more. Expected from such a stellar Smithsonian affiliate.

Was invited to speak at a conference that was hosted here. It’s a lovely venue and the service during the conference was great. We had some technical audio difficulties in one talk and they were promptly there to offer a fix. Food was ok but that’s not on them.

Make sure to check out the exhibits and take time to walk the venue and appreciate the history.

Look forward to coming back to future conferences here.

Lovely place for a conference with added history.

The Old Town in Albuquerque is definitely worth a visit. Many curious shops, cafes, restaurants and the Rattlesnake Museum. The smaller more interesting side of this large town we would have said. You can find most things here you'd like to take home or as gifts. Picturesque. Good food with incredible selection at Sawmill Market nearby.

I went to the Boca Negra Canyon area. It is a great place for people of average fitness to see the Petroglyphs. The trails to see them are rocky and steep but not that long. School children were handling them just fine. I did fine with LL Bean hiking sandals. I also saw roadrunners, hawks, a crissal thrasher and a jack rabbit on my 3 hour visit. There are great views of downtown Albuquerque.

We had a great time participating in the "Escape the Turquoise Museum" . It was fun trying to find the clues and leaning about Turquoise. Would highly recommend it.

This event is a must! I finally decided to attend when it coincided with the annular eclipse and really enjoyed the experience. The mass ascension at sunrise was almost overwhelming.

The grounds of the garden were gorgeous. So many variety of flowers, plants, succulents, metal works. There were workers and volunteers everywhere refreshing the annuals. The mini train was adorable. Affordable entrance fee as well.

Good, interesting place to visit. Great for kids and families. Lots of groups attend as well. Still lots of construction going on which can be kind of annoying and some of the animals were not out that I really wanted to see. Plenty of bathrooms no matter where you are in the park. Lots of benches when you get tired. The new tiger remodel was great too see. Very interesting to see it. Overall a good value for the money.

We loved the NM museum of natural history and science. The animatronic dinosaur was so lifelike. Also other dinosaurs skeletons were amazing. Geology of NM was great. Don’t miss the gift shop.
