The bar/restaurant is set in an absolutely beautiful and unique bamboo forest. The latter is spectacular and rivals anything we experienced in Japan. Having walked through the entire plantation, we vowed we must return before the end of our stay in the Dordogne, to have a leisurely drink in the lovely bar area. Well our intention was good but within seconds of receiving our drinks we were fighting off the mosquitoes on all fronts. Despite wearing anti ‘mozzi’ spray we admitted defeat within minutes and beat a hasty retreat. Such a pity, as the setting is wonderful and totally unique and unexpected, with the bar offering great potential for that memorable last drink in La Roque. We did wonder whether the ponds (which are landscaped around the bar) would be a haven for mozzies and we were right - even the bar staff were suffering.
So take the walk but be warned, there is no respite (or is that rest bite!) from the buzzing midges.

Its free, and not too far up the hill, so definitely worth a look.

Don't expect anything too extensive or spectacular, but interesting to see all these sorts of plants and they offer a nice ambience to the narrow streets.

Some people wrote that is overpriced for what is being offered, just a view from the perched cliff, an empty cave and less an hour experience, I thought that too. But after reading a bit more, I think we should enjoy this site while is available. This is a historical place, was used since very old times and people sought refuge up there when foreign attacks and invasions occurred in the Medieval times. It collapsed many times through the years because of the type of limestone; recently was closed for over 10 years to make it safe for visitors and to preserve local history. Incredible views of the Dordogne valley. Wear comfy (better trekking) shoes because of very steep stairs. But I think if acrophobic, think it twice.

This church can be reached by doing little bit hiking.
Parking spot can be found in the edge of the river and from there just walk up.
The scenery is great and strange actually.
However the best scene of the river is actually from Marqueyssac Jardin close by.

Very fun boat trip up the Dordogne River a ways. Audioguide in English included. Great views of Castlenaud and other gorgeous chateaus on the river.

Friendly staff, nice sight seeing from the Dordogne river and interesting talk. We knew the area already but learnt new stuff besides the leisure ride from the boat gives you time to appreciate the view

A must do and must see!! The chateaux on the hillside, the cool river, the ease of booking and collecting kayaks. And to top it off you are met at the end with a bus to bring you back to the start!! A fun way to spend the day!

Turned up on the day and got a canoe with my young daughter for an hour. Had great fun on the river. Staff were very friendly. Price seemed very reasonable, especially as under 12s are half price
