Mr. Wong has combined his two passions -- collecting botanicals and making art glass -- into a fanciful, photogenic garden you won't forget. Situated high in the mountains outside Penang, you have to really want to go there 'cuz it's a bit far away and hard to find for the average tourist. But it's soooo worth the effort!
The owner/creator specializes in collecting bromeliads, air plants (even Spanish moss) and other unusual botanical specimens, especially variegated cultivars. But you don't have to be a gardener or a botanist to appreciate this fantasyland. Combining his two interests, Wong has created a one-of-a-kind place that you won't soon forget, featuring his own huge glass sheet art pieces and those of others, too.
You do, however, have to be pretty spry & energetic 'cuz this is no stroll garden! Situated on top of a mountain as it is, everything is up-and-down, so wear comfortable shoes and carry a walking stick if you're not in tip-top shape. There's a photo at every turning, so don't forget your camera (and bug spray, tho' they have it there as well.) Definitely worth the trouble of getting there!
