It was just magical travelling down the river with fireflies blinking along the banks and under a cool starry night. The boatman skillfully steered the boat very near the low-lying branches to attract the fireflies to his special lantern. The ride was around 90 minutes long and we enjoyed every minute of the tour.

Ventured out of Club Med and explored the length of the golden sand beach. Excellent for a sunrise walk. It feels great to be so close to the sea and take everything in. Quiet place, no disruption.

    1) Location :
~ After roaming around searching high and low in Kampong Cherating Lama for this highly recommended batik painting workshop... we finally spotted its Limbong signage hidden behind the Tie Dye t-shirts ✌✌
~ Didn't get the exact address - but it is parallel to Hafiz's Cherating activities (fireflies watching etc), only to be parted by a cross road.

    2) Operating hours : 10am-10pm

    3) Duration of the batik painting :
~ We finished ours in 2 1/2 hours - reached 4:30pm and done by 7pm, collected our batik painting the next day.

    4) Fee :
    ~ RM30/batik painting experience
~ They sell tie dye clothes as well, very cool designs.

    5) 1st impression :
~ We were greeted by the daughter and she went on to show us some drawings and arrange for my 4 y/o a white cloth to trace the drawing as per our liking for batik painting, or we can draw any designs as we want.

~ Later on, the softspoken mother came to us when we were ready with our desired designs. She taught us patiently how to handle the handheld wax pipe/dispenser and when the wax is hot enough, she worked with my 4 y/o on her design with lots of encouragement.

    6) Environment :
~ Simple setup outside of their shop/house/studio, with lots of violent mosquitoes But we survived the attack.

    In conclusion :
~ We will definitely recommend this place and come again next time.

It's a good place for children and adults alike to learn about the turtles that come to our shores to lay their eggs and the danger they face. There are some turtles in the pools. It's free to enter but you can make a donation to upkeep the place. I've been there almost 7 years ago and I think they should upgrade the place and make it more interactive for kids. They don't have night turtle watching anymore. We had the opportunity to do so the last time we were there. It was a great learning experience.

We booked a nite fire fly tour with Hafiz and was pleasantly suprised by his ability to call the fireflies to come perform for him.

It was an interesting experience, and although the number of fireflies are not as much as Kampung Kuantan in Kuala Selangor, there were places where there were a fair bit of them.

To see them twinkling like little stars, and moving to land on the person infront of you, is quite an experience.

Coupled with the stars above, and the shiloutte of the trees against the night sky, and the still of night broken only by the purr of the boat engine is quite
    an experience.

For RM45 per person for an hour is quite worth the while considering
Hafiz is quite knowledgeable in this field, and have taken a 5 year.course to learn to communicate with fireflies.

Good to educate children about the fireflies too.

Zairil who is the owner of the surf school is an enthusiastic surfer and is always happy to help out his guests. His website (google it) has the latest pictures of his current batch of surfing guests and has various packages to cater for most budgets from aircon chalets right on the beach all the way to budget rooms at his guest house which includes 3 surf lessons and 2 nights stay. Most but the lowest packages include breakfast at the Ombak cafe which is located down the road next to the "Don't tell mama restaurant". They also offer rental of just the board for a full day or half the day. They also offer lessons only packages for small groups which includes the board rental. The surf conditions are of course weather and tide dependent and you may have to wait for the right wave to surf. The instructors are local surfers who will literally give you the right push to get up on the board in no time at all.

Went there for lunch with my gf, we both had pasta Bolognese and it was really tasty for only RM18 each !
We also had a good banana smoothie and a good cappuccino to end our meal
The music was great and the location is fantastic !
Would recommend for a quick lunch there in front of the sea with your feet in the sand !

Spent the weekend learning to surf at Satusuku surf school, was great experience and most importantly good instructors. My friend had the misfortune of going to a different surf school that was not officially qualified and tho he had fun, it was not the same experience. Will be back again!

It was our first time to celebrate New Year’s Eve holidays at Club Med but our sixth visit to Cherating. Looks like it will be a new family tradition in the making because the festive mood was soooo great! We even got to start the new year with a relaxing hot stone massage at the Spa.

We definitely enjoyed being able to step out of ‘working from home’ mode and truly go for a relaxing escape. 2020 has taught us to appreciate the outdoors so much more and Club Med was perfect for it even during the monsoon season.

Undoubtedly, the warmest smiles and the sincerest welcome of the G.Os we have met through the years make every visit extraordinary. We always looked forward to catch up with so many of them especially seeing them at the end of 2020 altogether - albeit we have met them during different Club Med seasons! Thank you Jenny Lee for making Club Med feel like home.

To Elaine, PK, kabayan Jerome, thank you for introducing us to the growing Club Med Cherating family.

Adaline, Joy, Gary, Momo, Johnson, Gabriel, Joanne, Rose, Ayoi, Tata, Tasha, Mitsuko, Fann, Avi, Top and Monika, rain or shine - our kids especially, thoroughly enjoyed the days and evenings in Club Med, on land, in the water or up in the air. Thanks for the exhilarating activities you led!

To the water sports team, Alphonso, Logan, Sham and Andy - we have been so lucky with the weather despite the monsoon season! We are so glad we got to swim
in the sea and take out the Hobie Wave and try out the Hobie Cat for a few sailing trips!

From the four of us - full-fledged happy G.M’s, we wish the Club Med Cherating family success in 2021 and for many more guests to discover what you all have in store for G.M newcomers and old-timers!
