Lovely stop en route to Lyon .
Free parking right beside entry .
A lovely couple of hours wandering the amazing gardens & seeing the limited entry (€8 pp) rooms on the ground floor.
Very few other visitors 😀, as we arrived at midday & the entry is closed from 12:30-14:00.
The photos of the restoration project are incredible .
After our visit we walked over the road for a lovely lunch at a local restaurant in this lovely village,

We’d seen road signs advertising the Galerie Artisanale et Gourmande on a previous journey and this time we decided to stop and investigate. It is a very fine old mill and associated buildings, now run to showcase a variety of local artisans and food producers. Outlying buildings are used as gites.

The range is enormous, from jewellery and watches to children’s toys, via wooden clogs, dyed silk scarfs, soaps and scents.

The two food halls have an equally eclectic range, and certainly tempted my wife to spend best part of a week’s pocket money before we left.

The problem for such places is that if you want a particular article you mostly go to a shop where you know it is stocked. Here they are not in a large town with a shopping mall, so they are dependent upon casual tourists for the most part. I don’t know that it is worth a special drive, but if you are in the area, visiting the château perhaps, then it is certainly worth spending a while there. Who knows - perhaps you will even find something you really “need”, as we did.

The opening hours are slightly messy, and it would be easy to arrive when they are shut and give up; they are basically open 7 days a week July and August, weekday afternoons and weekends in the latter half of June and September, friday afternoons and weekends from mid March-mid June and October-November, and just at weekends in December.

This week we drove with Estelle on the Trottinet. It was a really amazing experience. Estelle is a really lovely woman that will explain you a lot about the trottinet and learns you perfectly how to ride it.

The view on top of the hill was beautiful, and the rest of the route was also great.

We had a perfect afternoon with Estelle.

I will definitely come again to Les Balades d’Estelle!
