What travellers are saying
- Climber1029612 contributionsI visited this museum in 2001. It has a very complete inventory of Spanish railroad locomotives, mainly but not exclusively electric. The museum is very user friendly. Here is an English translation of the Spanish-language blurb now appearing on this website:
The Railway Museum of Catalonia located in Vilanova i la Geltrú is a valuable heritage facility dedicated to the railway world and to the service of people. Since its founding in 1990, it has been managed by a cultural body of the public sector, the Spanish Railways Foundation, created for the recovery, custody, dissemination and transmission of the historical heritage of the railway. Currently the main companies in the State railway sector are represented on its Board of Trustees. It is also part of the Territorial System of museums of the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia and the network of Museums of Vilanova.Written 19 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. During summer season it's cleaned every day. Blue flag for top water quality. From mid of May to mid of October with different beach bars, live concerts and performances. Never over crowded.Written 7 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Aapie53 contributionsAn amazing old place full of history and antiques. You could learn how the they lived in the past. You could see the architectural style, the interior design and the culture. Highly recommended to pay a visit. I paid only €4 for the entry ticket.Written 30 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TrévorLimoges, France126 contributionsMain street in villanova, leads up from the sea front, nice place to sit and sip a coffee. Plenty of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. All tastes catered for. The day we went their was a market in the middle of the street selling fruit, veg, etc. Nice place for a stroll.Written 10 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mrsaxemanswitzerland83 contributionsPowerful work and perfect location. Really worth visiting to admire the artist's vision. Against the backdrop of sea and blue sky, it triggers the imagination.Written 6 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NightowlLichfield, UK2,494 contributionsOf the five beaches in this long curving bay, that comprise Vilanova the most quiet and isolated. No services for bars so go prepared, Nudist in parts with good clean sands.Written 15 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - vessi80North Lanarkshire, UK1,213 contributionsOnly a few minutes from the train station and Railway Museum.
Superb exterior and the inside is a stunning blend of traditional and now. Entrance is 4 euros but as the Egyptian hall was temporarily closed, the entrance was free. New I- Pad guide - you can use your phone or the I Pad. Bring you ear buds. Only some of the collection is available on the I Pad but it's the general info which is really good.
I headed for the library first - so atmospheric and he had such an advanced filing system for his books. Then onto the other rooms.
Many of the works are on loan from the Prado so you have El Greco's St Francis of Assisi , The Holy Family and some Goya portraits too.. The Catalan greats like Rusinol and Casas are well represented.
Upstairs is sheer Modernist heaven -
Stayed until closing time at 2pm - great experienceWritten 1 November 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The bottom part is uneven, sloping, a bit inconvenient for walking, the sand is coarser than other beaches in Vilanova.
But always a beatiful place to see.Written 30 July 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alan PCarcassonne Center, France346 contributionsThis is not the largest market, but it has lots of interesting produce at good prices and all well presented and fresh. Also it is in a hall which is good in the unlikely event of bad weather. Many restaurants in the area too.Written 7 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
