- duhozBeroun, Czech Republic6,189 contributionsMagical place. Remains of a castle founded in the second half of the 13th century by Wenceslas II. and the alleged murder place of Princess Ludmila.
Tetín is an ancient place, associated with legends from the earliest Czech statehood. There used to be a Slavic fortified settlement here, which was to be founded by the legendary Kroka's daughter Teta. Later, the first Czech princess Ludmila lived here. She was assassinated here in 921.
Easy to get to this peaceful village nestled above the river Berounka just 4 KM from Beroun. The remains of the castle are just about 500 meters from the village square or the church where you can leave the car. From Beroun there regular public bus.
The views from the site into the valley of the Berounka river with the Alkazar quarry and the limestone rocks of the Czech Karst are awesome and stunning. One of my favorite place, just to sit on the bench and enjoy the peacefulness and magic of the site.
If you have a car you can also visit Konepruské jeskyně (caves) - the largest cave system in Bohemia with the three-storey cave system over 2 km of corridors.Written 30 December 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just 3,5 Km / 45 – 60 minutes from the main square and from elevation of 223 m to 492 m . Relatively easy walk, with the first 20 minutes walk up the hill with a small chapel, then just walking along the range till you reach the lookout with 56 stairs to the top. Free admission, permanently open. Due to the high-grown trees (even some cut down) the view can be partially restricted . Its worth of the walk and your effort.Written 15 January 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
