What travellers are saying
- Dom HDorchester, UK17 contributionsWe caught the bus from Moro Jable bus station. Arrive at the station early and bring cash, cards are not accepted. The bus driver turned away more than he could carry, hence get there early.
The drive out was fun, on a dirt track with lots of hairpin bends. We stopped for photos on the ridge above the beach.
The beach is vast and golden, with impressive surf. We walked for miles, in the wilderness, stunning.
A must do!Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Really lovely stretch of beach with many a hotel and apartment block towards the back of the beach. Found a couple of small shopping centres but couldnt locate lots of bars and restaurants. I'm guessing its a more all-inclusive crowd that enjoy the resort. It was nice for a couple of hours with the beach really being the star.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shaun LClanfield, UK1,745 contributionsFirst time visit to this part of Sotavento beach which by way of a location pinpoint is just by the large Melia Fuerteventura hotel. Reached from the FV2 turning just after Costa Calma there is a tarmac road leading to dusty car park and a further dirt track to a closer beach car park if you fancy the offroad drive. The views are stunning with a lagoon, streams, sandy mountains and miles and miles of pure sand. Popular with water sports enthusiasts there is plenty of room for everyone! Worth visiting even if just to admire the view and the surrounding landscape.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shaun LClanfield, UK1,745 contributionsWe hadn’t visited the very south of the island for a long time so set out early from Corralejo for the drive down to the Jandía peninsula. If you don’t stop you can expect a journey time of around 1 hour and 45 minutes. But there are lots of places to stop so factor that into your plans. The roads across the island make it a relatively easy journey unless you choose a Google map route that takes you cross country so choose the motorways or the scenic route. Once you reach Morro you will notice that it has a distinct lack of parking. If you opt for the first spots along the main round then it is a 45 - 60 minute walk in to the centre. If you drive right into the town you will struggle to park. And this was March so not even peak season. We walked along the promenade to the town beach area where we spent a couple of hours. Bars and restaurants were busy but I’m told that’s because there are not too many with most hotels being all inclusive. Hotels themselves were high rise unlike the flatter buildings you find in the northern resort towns. The beach was nice but the surrounding streets off it up into the town were a bit elevated. Worth a visit so you can compare, contrast and choose your resort location but not likely to be for us.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dom HDorchester, UK17 contributionsA stunning beach, miles of golden sand with turquoise waves washing the shore. We swam and body surfed in many places up and down the beach.
The town works hard to maintain this fabulous beach, cleaning the beach and providing life guards and cafes.
There is no dress code, anything goes. Watching the parade of white bath robes, descend from the local hotels, in the morning for a skinny dip was an interesting spectacle.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tide got lower as the evening went out. Absolutely beautiful.Written 19 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Graeme BLos Cristianos, Spain20,376 contributionsThis page is for reviews of the Faro de Jandia Lighthouse, on the southern most tip of Fuerteventura.
It 19km from Morro Jable, mainly on an unmade road, which can be challenging at times & takes over 30 minutes.
When you get there you get beautiful views of the very southern tip of the island, plus you will get your wig blown off.Written 3 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Behind the beach is a little car park that is accessed down a steep, twisting, stony track. Once parked you can leave your clothes in the car and stroll along to select your space. We settled against the bottom of the huge dune at the back of the beach where the soft sand was comfortable to lie on. An almost equal mix of nude and clothed people on the beach.Written 12 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PhilipHook, UK10 contributionsThis is a lovely medium-sized beach offering some protection from the wind. Beautiful soft sand, gently shelving into the sea, ideal for swimming. Like many wild beaches there’s a mix of clothed and naked people. Generally a very happy atmosphere.
There’s a beach bar nearby with fantastic views out to sea, very friendly staff, ideal for a drink or lunch.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is a simple walk with a 4x4 track leading 80% of the way and the rest of the trail is very well marked out (large stones define the footpath. Please beware it is still truly a Mountain environment with it's on weather patterns and problems, the biggest being the Heat. Some parts on the trail are extremely Hot, little wind in the Full Sun with Red or Black stones (Lava Pumice) collecting the heat but also high Winds are very common and rain. That said it is a Stunning walk taking about 4/5 hour to complete with so many Fantastic views (most the walking is on a wide ridg with views both sides. Me & Wife went up in the night and arrived at the Summit before Sunrise and got the most Spectacular view imaginationable, and after 20mins the clouds rolled in & stayed for the rest of the day. The views in all directions are Breathtaking but looking down to Playa de Cofete (beach) will stay with us forever. Warning ⚠️ about Three Meters beyond the Summit the Cliffs drop off over 700 feet so take care as you soak in the views. Unlike many mountains this gets Greener the higher you get with a fantastic arrangement of plant-life around the Summit area, with a gated & fenced are ti stop the local mountain Goats from eating everything, yes that goats & their's a good few of them as well. All in all is a Stunning walk with Fantastic Views that make this a Memorable trip.Written 25 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joanna AOldham, UK283 contributionsWe stopped for a short visit and a walk down to the lighthouse on a rainy afternoon. I think you could quite easily spend a day or 2 exploring this area, it looks beautiful with plenty to see and then shopping areas at the other side.
It's a shame about the graffiti on the light house, my daughter spent time editing photos to get rid of it.
The bridge area is also in need of some tlc, there are some missing planks as well as some raised, rotting bits. The twenty kilometre route took us through the stunning mountainous terrain and landscape on Jandía Park.
The sense of adventure of the journey, which took about an hour, was heightened as we drove along a winding, unsurfaced and uneven track, leaving us feeling shaken rather stirred.
We did make a stop at the viewpoint, Mirador Cofete, to appeciate the stunning views along the thirteen kilometres of Cofete beach and the mountainous scenery of Jandía Natural Park, rather breathtaking.
Taking a turn at a fork in the track eventually leads to Puerto de la Cruz, at the foot of the Pájara peninsula. We did not venture there, did not think the car or our bodies would make it.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
