What travellers are saying
- MaggieMae324Magnolia, TX30 contributionsWe visited twice during our recent Bahamas trip. The first time we visited the caves and then crossed over to the beach. We loved this beach on our first trip in 2017 and it is still one of our favorites. The tide was low and we were able to walk out very far into the water. We saw 4 dolphins playing in the water. We found several sea biscuits and some very pretty shells. We even had a raccoon come and see us while walking from the road to the beach.Written 22 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tricia SCharlotte, NC39 contributionsOur hotel shuttled us to the beach and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it exceeded my expectations! It was quiet and beautiful. I did not see any public restrooms, but A short walk to Blackbeard’s and you can get a great lunch, drinks and clean restrooms. In front of Blackbeard’s you can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas, also jet skis.Written 8 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kathryn D1 contributionOne of the ten most beautiful beaches in the world! The Bahamas National Trust maintains this for everyone to enjoy the beach, sandbars and Petersen Cay just a few hundred feet off shore. Visit the caves, the creek, mangroves and enjoy this beautiful park.Written 27 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Angelize1999Finger Lakes, NY466 contributionsVery pretty gardens. Small. We visited as part of a tour when cruising to Freeport. We had 45 minutes to tour gardens and I would say another 15 minutes tops would have been enough to see everything. Not sure of admission but I would not pay over $8 a person. A few shops with friendly people were inside and a small garden cafe.Written 15 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TiffanyHCWarrenton, VA173 contributionsWe took the shuttle to the port. Unfortunately most of the shops were closed. The shops that were open the shop keepers were very pushy. There’s also no pricing to n anything.Written 18 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Emily RSturgis, MI58 contributionsLess than seven minute ferry ride from the Pelican Bay Hotel to Taino Beach. The ferry driver has been captaining boats for quite a number of years. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. If you’re staying at the Pelican Bay, you can take the free ferry over to Taino Beach. Make sure you have a room key or proof that you are staying at Pelican Bay. You can then enter the restricted access area. It’s a short walk to the beach. Mid May 2023, it was very quiet, peaceful and clean.Written 15 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tony TMississippi1,516 contributionsLast port of call on our 4 day cruise. There are several local booths in this area. few other places to eat and get a drink. Just a nice little place to walk around and pass a few hours.Written 15 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sophia E MEgham, UK19 contributionsWent on a kayak and snorkeling trip with Calabash Eco Adventures and loved the snorkeling around the Cay - completely worth it going out there. Reef is looking very alive with hard corals and an abundance of tropical fish. Had one nurse shark swimming round us towards the end (they're harmless and uninterested in us), and then shortly afterwards found one resting on top of the reef (somewhat unusual as they like to sleep under overhangs/in caves). The resting nurse shark decided it didn't like snorkelers staring at it, and swam away - straight underneath me! I could have touched it if I wanted, but I left it alone - scary and exciting. It was not nesting season for the protected birds, so we didn't see the reason this is a protected area, but you probably don't go to Peterson Cay to see birds.Written 4 November 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan SWinnipeg, Canada200 contributionsThis was an interesting walk through the park reading all about the history of the island. It's not huge and doesn't take along time to walk it but make sure you got a camera when you go down deeper into the caves.Written 18 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
