- James H10 contributionsThis beach reminds me of Baja Mexico in the 1980's. Mostly Thai people come here. Beaches are long and relatively clean. only a moderate amount of development so the beaches are almost empty during the week. Motorbike or bicycle is handy (rent) to get around. restaurants and bars can be far apart. I come here 6 times a year or more. Most other beaches leave me wanting to come back here :)Written 13 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gordonj258Blackpool, UK6,502 contributionsBeautiful sunrises and sunsets. Lovely clean water and beautiful sand. Nice bars and scenery. Best to get away from Sai Kaew and venture further into the island. There are many, many beautiful places to spend your day.Written 27 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Russell A5 contributionsLots of different foods to try from fresh lobsters to stuff on a stick. Prices to suit any budget. Try a little of everything! We sat at a table by a very entertaining solo guitar player who sang American classic rock. Don't forget to try coconut icecream and if you're bold enough try the insects. They're really good! Bamboo worms and grasshoppers were my favorite.Written 11 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- bigbluetoMeilen, Switzerland82 contributionsWe had a visit for the old Thai house on the site who gives a nice inside view of the Asian history. It is a nice place to calm down from the traffic.
Also the garden is very nice and relaxing. You find all plants and trees described in English.

The main problem is a lack of signage, so unless you know what you are looking at a tour of the gardens is not very educational.
For me the highlight was three traditional Thai teakwood houses, all more than 100 years old, which have been carefully preserved and renovated. The houses are fully furnished with period furniture and many tools and utensils of a long bygone era.
There is also a classical Thai sala in the gardens. A sala is a square or rectangular open sided building used for meetings, gatherings or just relaxing.
Finding Sobha Botanical Gardens can be confusing because the various signs pointing to it are confusing in themselves. The easiest way to find it is to take Highway 36 south from Rayong City. About 17 km down there is a sign pointing to the right to Ban Phe. Take this turn and 200 meters down the road, just past a large blue archway over the road which welcomes you to Ban Phe Municipality is the gardens. But you have to continue a further 500 meters down to do a U-turn and head back up. Don't blink or you will miss it because the gateway signage is small and easily missed.
Sobha Botanical Gardens is open everyday except Thursday. I suspect that the staff who run the gardens are fair weather people because if it is raining or even wet you are likely to find the gates closed and locked.ntiqueWritten 9 October 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Slow boat cost 100 baht one way. Do not book return as they will rip you off. Do not book return Taxi but call Bolt by App as its the cheapest. Taxi company will rip you off on the pier. Return from Koh samet cost 60 baht for slow boat. On the pier in Rayong on Naunthip or Ban phe pier you can get hold off a captain and it cost around 40 to 50 baht. We went to Ban Phe Pier on 22 november 2022 to go by slow boat. 2 big ladies at Ban Phe pier was very keen to sell us return trip to Koh Samet/jomtien for 2 people 800 baht. I knew it was to to ekspensive but my sister went along. Then the big lady wanted to sell us taxi ride to Jomtien when we came back. Price 800 baht. Since Bolt wanted 861 baht i thought okey. The bolt driver to Rayong had 1.000 baht because he thought Rayong was a long trip. Called a friend and sold the trip to him for 1000baht.( Quite common in Thailand) so 800 to return to Jomtien was fine but i found it strange since Bolt is 861 baht. I learned why when we had spend to lovely days on our bounty Island . Koh Samet is a lovely place. Blue water and nice little town. Been there several times. After 2 days we went to the main Pier on Koh samet. Since there was 2 hours till our boat would come we bought a one way ticket to 60 baht. YES 60 baht so why did we pay 800 baht return. We arrived at Sri ban phe pier. A lady picked us up on a scooter like car with seats and when we came back to Ban Phe Pier I confronted the big ladies and as always "we dont understand". Then i was pissed and they understood. We will refund 400 baht the big lady said. We sat down and they said taxi would come. Stil no refund 400 baht. We waited 30 minutes and no taxi and no refund. Again i asked for refund and taxi but no she does not have a taxi though we paid 800 baht up front. She could send us to Jomtien in tourist van but we paid for small car. She complained she must pay driver ekstra to take us so i could have 200 baht refund because she needed 200 baht out of MY refund to driver. Jesus Christ. I gave up and she found small car to take us after all. I took the 200 baht and called her a cheat. So thats why you do not pay Anything in advance and go to Naunthip pier because i have never been ripped off there. Do visit Koh samet. Its a lovely Pearl. Always reed the signs and do not use local dealers.Written 24 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EstelleSingaBangkok, Thailand48 contributionsVery disappointed by this restaurant.
Mistakes in all the orders we made, waiters are impolite and unpleasant. It has been a while since I’ve seen such a lack of professionalism. On the top of this the food was not good. That’ll be our last time in this restaurantWritten 27 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
