We sailed on the Summit out of San Juan a few weeks prior to the decision to suspend cruising due to the coronavirus pandemic. At that time none of our destinations had confirmed cases and were allowing cruise ships to port. We were able to visit all ports of call as planned (Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Thomas). One of the complaints we read about prior to sailing was that the evening entertainment can be hit or miss. We were very active when visiting each port, so for us this ship was perfect. By the time we returned from our daily adventure and had dinner in the Cosmopolitan room we were exhausted and ready for bed. While the entertainment may have been average, there were a lot of positives about the ship. We always make travel videos from our vacations so if you are considering booking on the Summit we would recommend checking out the Summit videos on our YouTube Channel Explorcation. The link is in our bio. We do have a playlist for only videos related to the Summit. We are almost half way through our footage at this moment. Expedited Arrival We completed our check in process via the Celebrity App and this allowed us to qualify for the Expedited Arrival process. This is a FREE process and is definitely worth using the app to check in. It allows you to take your sea pass picture on your phone and connect your credit card when you complete the check in process at home. It makes the embarkation process much faster. It only took 10 mins to drop our bags off with the porters and get to our room. (If you want more information about this we did make a video about it because we were so impressed with it.) This was the quickest embarkation process we have every experienced. Refurbished Room We stayed in an interior room on the 8th floor (8001). We were very impressed with the renovations. The color palate used is calming (grey and pink). We liked that the drawers were large and had the soft close hardware. (The cabinet doors did not have the soft close hardware so beware, those can still slam shut.) I LOVED the light up circular mirror, it was great for getting ready for dinner. We also liked features of the bathroom. The shower had a nice glass door vs a shower curtain and the shower head height could be adjusted easily. There was also a notch lower in the shower to make it easier to shaves ones legs. Lastly, there were several places to plug in USB chargers. There was a USB charger in the outlets near the mirror and also on both bed stands. (We also include a room tour in the video footage on our channel.) I thought they did a really great job refurbishing the interior rooms. Dining Breakfast Every morning we started the day with coffee at Cafe al Bacio (which I will discuss more later). We then would eat breakfast either at the Spa Cafe or at the Oceaview buffet. The Spa Cafe had home made granola bars every morning that we really enjoyed. The buffet had all of the typical breakfast options, but our favorite was the stuffed french toast. Every day it had a different fruit in the middle and the the orange butter made this a very delicious sweet treat. Lunch: We did not get to experience much of what the ship had to offer for lunch. We ate at the buffet when we embarked, but due to our excursions in port we often did not return to the ship until after lunch. We did eat at Sushi on 5 one day. This restaurant is a la carte but we thought the prices were reasonable and the sushi was delicious. They did offer an all you can eat sushi option, but it is not advertised on the menu. Make sure to ask about it if you want to eat a ton of sushi. We had excellent service (but the restaurant was not busy at all when we were there). If you have the drink package, the specialty drinks offered only at this restaurant are included. We ate at the Cosmopolitan for lunch one time as well. We thought the food was average, but the service was excellent. We may have just not picked the best entree that day. We would give it another try. We often ate late in the afternoon when returning from excursions in port. We would recommend trying a burger at the poolside grill. They are made fresh and have a ton of options to choose from. We also thought the fries were delicious. There were also snack foods available on the buffet in the late afternoon. We LOVED eating the pizza. It is made fresh and we thought it was yummy. We had it several times either in the afternoon or in the evening before going to bed. Dinner: Every night we ate at the Cosmopolitan dining room. We experienced wonderful services from Maria (Sommlier), Reynaldo (Head Waiter) and Ming (Assistant Waiter). Every night they brought three different butters/dips for the bread and most were very good. We had some favorite dishes including: duck l'orange, strawberry soup, prime rib, crab cakes, beet salad, steak diane, gnocchi, scallops rockafellar and beef tournedo. While the desserts were good, sometimes we decided to get dessert from Cafe al Baccio - it had the delicious cheesecakes. Our favorite dessert from the dining room was the chocolate lava cake. It was done very well and came with coffee ice cream. We did create a video to highlight several of the dining options. Footage includes the Oceanview Cafe, Cosmopolitan dining room and Sushi on 5. Drink Package We received the Classic Drink Package as a perk. We knew that we would want to upgrade because the Classic Package would exclude some of the craft beers, martinis and smoothies. As soon as we got on the ship we went to Cafe al Bacio and upgraded our drink package. This can be done at any of the bars that are open on the ship when you embark. You can also upgrade prior to embarking online. We used our onboard credit for the upgrade and it was a total of 184 dollars for both of us. We thought it was worth it, but would recommend checking out the options covered for each package to determine if it will be worth it for you. We were a little disappointed that some of the advertised craft beers were not available on our sailing, but we found plenty of alternatives. The drink package does include specialty coffees and we visited Cafe al Bacio frequently, usually once in the morning and once in the afternoon. You could get plain coffee, or try one of their many specialty options. They also had a menu for alcoholic coffee drinks. Our favorites were the Shakerato and the Caramel Macchiato. If you like a strong coffee flavor we would recommend ordering an extra shot of espresso. We would also recommend trying the dessert here. The dessert is free. We tried several cheesecakes and thought they were great. You can ask to take the dessert to go too. Pool/Gym We spent time in the Solarium pool, the hot tubs and the gym. We really enjoyed the relaxing Solarium and hot tubs after an active day in port. But the hot tubs were NOT hot. The gym was nice with a good variety of machines. We liked the yoga/stretching room. On other ships we have been on this room has been windowless. We really liked that this room was at the front and we could see the water when doing yoga or stretching. Overall this ship is just what we needed for the type of vacation we had planned. If we had planned to spend more time on the ship we may have been a bit disappointed with the evening activities. We did really enjoy the Silent Disco that was offered twice during the week. We also thought the karaoke with the live band was entertaining. If you are used to the bigger ships with excellent entertainment you may want to adjust your expectations. If you are considering booking on this ship and plan to be active in port and don't care too much about the entertainment, then you should really enjoy this ship. This itinerary is excellent for exploring and staying active. Here is a list of the excursions we did during the week: - Barbados - beach day to explore 8 different beaches - St. Lucia - hiked the Petit Piton with St. Lucia Tours (the excursion on Trip Advisor is Petit Piton Climbing Expedition) - Antigua - snorkeled at Gallion Bay (shipwreck), explored the Pillars of Herecules - St. Kitts - hiked Mount Liamuiga with Oneil Tours - St. Thomas - hiked to secluded beaches (Santa Maria and Neltjeberg) - Puerto Rico - went to Cueva Ventana We are in the process of making videos of each experience to help others plan excursion on each island. Happy trip planning!

We took our cruise the last week cruises were allowed. When we weren't allowed to dock at our assigned location Celebrity got us safely to another location (2 more days of free cruising). They also are rebating half our cost because of the inconvenience of 2 free days of cruising and offered us half off our next cruise. During the extra days at sea the staff were very positive and continued to take care of the passengers. I will choose Celebrity for my next cruise.

Flew to San Juan and took a 7 day cruise to St Thomas, St Martin, Dominica, Barbados and Granada plus one day at sea, on Celebrity Summit. Took an oversized Balcony cabin at stern of ship, Concierge Class which offered some good perks. Trip came with Premium Drink Package, Gratuities, WIFI and plus additional on board credit included. Don't usually purchase drink packages, as we do not believe they offer good value unless you drink a lot more than we do, but the last 2 cruises, have included them so why not. We usually have a couple of glasses of wine with the meals, plus maybe a pre dinner drink. It never adds up to the cost of the package over 7 days, and this was the case again, but it was nice not to have to think too much about it. Good to be able to have a drink when you feel like it, as well as coffee and soft drinks occasionally. Pity the Gelato was not included, so you could have coffee and Gelato, but even though it was expensive, it was delicious. Ate at Qsine and Tuscan Grill, 2 of the specialty restaurants on board and they had some excellent meals mixed with some things that frankly did not work. Added 3 nights in the MDR which was excellent, plus Indian in the Ocean View Cafe. The Indian food very good and a nice change from the mundane. Breakfasts were served on the huge balcony each morning and were always on time and with good choices. At all times the service in all the restaurants was excellent and very helpful and friendly. We had just come off the Celebrity Infinity, 2 weeks ago, so we had an opportunity to compare the revamped Summit with the soon to be redone Infinity. We found the Infinity to be fine, but the Summit is now a lot better, with lighter color schemes and furnishings, more comfortable and airy, with a feeling of more space. A lot more modern. Cabin was great and felt like it had more space...the huge balcony certainly helped, but the spa, restaurants, bars, pool area, theater etc were all much better and less crowded. They are both great sized ships, and never feel too crowded, other than at port or final disembarkation. We were impressed with the care taken with sanitation, including staff outside each restaurant entry, and leaving and coming back on board, personally treating passengers with hand san1tizer and making sure people regularly washed their hands. Especially given potential problems with Corona virus. Captain, crew and entertainment director were out and about and very approachable. Spa was excellent, shopping arcade was good although we didn't buy anything, plenty of places to get drinks and snacks all over the ship, entertainment was OK with some good musical shows. Good island itinerary with plenty to do at each stopover. We used a couple of the ship shore excursions, but a lot of the time, just hired a driver to take us where we wanted to go, or shared a ride with others. All in all, we enjoyed the cruise. Celebrity was generally excellent, cabin was great, service was always over and above and friendly, plenty of space, lots to see and do and generally food was good.
