Just finished our 2nd cruise on Windstar. The first was > 30 years ago - a Christmas/New Year's cruise in the Caribbean. This time, it was the Panama Canal and the western / Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The Windstar itself is in terrific condition. Obviously it's been refurbished at least once since our first cruise 30+ years ago, but the layout is mostly the same. It's cozy as is typical in a small cruise ship (148 passengers), but the rooms are very well laid out with plenty of storage hidey-holes to get your "stuff" organized and out of the way. The staff to a man (& woman) are all terrific - so friendly and helpful and skillful in learning your name and preferences. The food was very good, much better than I'd expected. And they were well equipped and mobilized for reducing any risk of COVID-19 with hand sanitizer stations seemingly every few feet and you could see the staff using disinfectant sprays and wipes everywhere and frequently which was very reassuring. Clearly they were on high alert as every passenger had their temperature taken before being allowed onboard. Smaller cruises are a lot of fun as you actually have time to meet and get to know a bit of many of the other passengers without it feeling forced as the atmosphere is very casual. You can eat at a table with others or just your party as you like or have the same meal choices as in the restaurant served in your cabin for the ultimate in intimacy. 24/7 room service is also available, fast, and good if you have acraving for ice cream with fresh chocolate sauce at 2AM... Not me, of course! <grin> We didn't do any of the many offered excursions but clearly from the chatter, the other passengers who partook enjoyed them greatly. Unfortunately, but understandably, the winds were such that they didn't use the sails other than a few short periods more to remind you the Windstar is actually capable of using sail power. Even so, it's a delightful ship, great crew and if you need a time away from the hustle & bustle without the craziness and over programming of the mega cruise ships, give Windstar (& it's sisters) a try.

no balconies on the cabin but very comfortable. food was great, enertainment too. Ship able to get into smaller ports that the behemoths couldn't. not for children, but very enjoyable for adults. Next best thing to a river cruise in Europe

recently went on windstar to the caribbean on the ship star legend. the ship is old and falling apart. no hot water for two days. no air conditioning on and off. brown water coming out of the showers and sinks.food quality below carnival cruise line.this is supposed to be five star, what a joke. stay away from windstar , dont waste your money on this line, there are plenty of other criuse lines that are so much better.

We went on the Greek Isles cruise in May of 2017 and loved Windstar! Overall, great experience with a fabulous crew, spacious staterooms with lots of storage, clean pools, and great food. Staff were amazingly accommodating as far as food allergies as well. The only real complaint was the lack of internet, it did not reach the rooms whatsoever and was hard to use even in common areas. If it hadn't been an additional cost it wouldn't be as big of a complaint, but definitely not worth paying more for.

Very much enjoyed the Greek Island tour. We missed Mykonos due to it being too rough. (Apparently this happens pretty often) The island of Samos was exchanged for Mykonos. It goes without saying, but Santorini was well worth it, but the highlight of the trip for me was Ephesus. The dinner at night is a once in a life time experience.
