Can you tell me if the horse ride is mandatory, and if not, what the alternative would be? Thanks so much!
Hi - I am planning a trip to Northern Peru and would love to include Kuelap. Trouble is, I walk with a stick and rather slowly. I am told it takes 4 hours walking to get to the site, go round it and back. I could possibly get on a horse!! but how rough is the path to the site and what are the difficulties getting there? I need to assess the risks.
Is it safe for children? I read that if it rains, the stones get very slippery and there are no railings to stop you from falling down the cliff.
How do you get from Lima to Kuelap and what is the likely cost?
How long would the return trip take?
How can you get there using public transport options, from chachapoyas,Tingo nueva or possible other place nearby? Are there places to stay nearby apart from chachapoyas?
