Husband and I are experienced snow drivers (Washington mountains, Colorado, Michigan) but we've never done Alaska snow driving. We're hoping to visit the first week of November. Anyone have thoughts on November driving? Car rentals? Anything else we should know? Thank you!
I have 3 questions:
1. We are getting there very late at night - is it better to rent a car or get a transport from the lodge?
2. Is it better to rent a car to get around places to eat, tours etc.?
3. if we get there late at night will any grocery stores be open to buy cooking supplies?
Has anyone been to Fairbanks late Dec thru beginning Jan and driven to the lodge? What are the road conditions like? Plan on renting car.
What did you do in the day (for those who have stayed)? I know this is a remote location, so I was curious how your day was spent. Thanks!!
