Hotel Laxnes Questions & Answers

Colchester, United Kingdom

Hello How easy is it to book the tours from the hotel? We want to do golden circle, blue lagoon and try to see the northern lights. Is it possible to get picked up from the hotel for this?

I'm so sorry, I haven't been home to see my questions!!! The hotel manager Sean, is just the most helpful person. He will happily make arrangements for you and has lots of information in the lobby. Hope this is in time to help.

I was picked up at the hotel for the Golden Circle tour but not taken back. The tour bus dropped everyone at a bus stop to get you back to your hotel.

Probably we rented a car and drove entire country. Most hikes and waterfalls are free to get in. The glacier hikes you have to book a tour. Also mos hotels will wake you up to see the lights free of charge

No idea as we had our own car and did on our own. Some other reviewers had no problem.

I believe it depends on what tour company you use. We used Grayline for the airport and they picked us up at the hotel in a small van, and then took us to the main bus terminal to get on a bigger bus with everyone else. Reykjavik tours for Blue lagoon and golden circle did not. We had to meet at the bus depot In downtown. We took the local bus that stops outside the hotel but almost missed the tour because it made so many local stops. If you want to do a lot of tours and stuff in town, I would get a rental car if you want to stay at this hotel.

You can book with some tour operators from the hotel unfortunately, I’m not sure which ones. But if you email the hotel they will let you know, response is fairly swift.

On all my bookings with Bus Travel I had to meet in Reykjavík due to hotel location which meant taking a bus there and back 440 krona each way per person. The bus stop is directly outside the hotel.

Hope this helps.

Yes it's possible certainly. I would recommend calling or emailing the concierge at the hotel as those three locations are not so close. He or she could advise you the best local tour operator to ensure you a smooth experience getting to and from each location. Hope that helps you.

We booked a Golden Circle tour from the hotel using Grayline. The Grayline bus was over an hour late picking us up. However, the hotel manager called the company several times to find out where they were and why we had not been picked up yet. Five stars for Hotel Laxnes service, only two stars for Grayline.

The hotel can book tours for you but you have to pay by credit card.. We only took cash so we went into Reykjavik and booked through GrayLine tours who discounted the trips as we booked 3 all at once, this worked out cheaper than booking direct through the Hotel. For every trip a minibus will pick you up from the hotel and take you to the bus terminus to get on a coach, they are always on time and drop you back at the hotel after each trip. Be aware the northern light trips are very long and quite boring, there's a lot of just waiting around and doing nothing in freezing temperatures with no guarantee of seeing them. The golden circle is by far the best one, it's amazing, the blue lagoon is fab but a word of advice, take a towel and robe as they are mega expensive to hire, think we paid £80 each for this privilege.
