We were in Tulum early May 2017. Each time we tried to go to Chiapenecas it looked like the business had closed up. It was never open! What's the secret of eating there??? We will be heading back to Tulum this May. Any advise would be appreciated. I do so love love real tacos al pastor!!!!!
I don’t know what’s going on. We went during normal meal times and never had a problem.
The old location still sports all the signage, and we found this confusing, too. It's moved a few spaces up the street (if you're facing the old (boarded-up) location, go to the left. It's maybe 2 or 3 businesses up the street, on the same side, at a corner. The food is still amazing, and super affordable!
Open evenings but parents own restaurant directly opposite them that is awesome and open bld
This place is one of the best and is definetely worth waiting for!
At the time I was there, they were only open at night (around 6pm).
You should also try the ceviche at the fish place not far from there ... other side of the road though!
We went about 8pm/9pm each night and it was heaving!
At one point I saw people sat on the kerb eating.
We where told a similar thing about pollo bronco too but it was open much later than we where told.
If you are staying near, always worth popping by or if not try carboncito across the road... chorizo tortas are amazing!
I second mginter, only open in the evening.
You have to go at night. They aren’t open for lunch. Go after 7pm. But before midnight otherwise they might run out!
