Hi, just wondering about parking here? it sounds like there is parking but not enough for everyone?
If the parking lot is full, where do you park?
And is it possible/ reasonable to walk into Baker St in the winter?
There should be enough parking available that no-one has to park elsewhere besides buses, semi-trucks etc. Parking can get tight sometimes in the summer but there are enough parking spots. Especially in the winter.
Don't worry about asking for an updated room as suggested in one of the latest reviews. All rooms are updated to the same extend (June 2016) besides carpets and kitchens. Go to "rooms and rates" on our website and click on the individual room-types. It will show you some photos of that particular room-type.
The walk to Baker street is very doable in summer as well as in most winter days. After some fresh snow you might want to consider driving into town or take a cab but I would say that one can walk at least 9 out of 10 times in the winter.
Yes there is ample parking.
Parking was a bit tight, but we were not inconvenienced.
The walk to Baker Street is doable as it is all downhill; am sure winter would be fine as the climate is temperate. If you are in fairly good physical shape, the walk back, uphill, is no problem.
I believe there is enough parking on the property, at least one slot per room but there is some street parking too not very close though. Yes you can walk to Baker Street but that also depends on the winter. Some winters could be very harsh in Canada.
In the off season there most likely would be enough parking. However, during the busy season/event weekends when the hotel is full, you will find that parking is limited when you are one of the last guests to return. You would have to park on the street if the lot is full.
I would not recommend walking to and from Baker Street in the winter. I might consider the walk in the summer, but not with children as the walk back up the hill would be daunting at best.
If you do choose to stay, be sure to ask for an upgraded room as shown in the pictures.
I agree, Nelson is a fantastic place to visit. Very friendly folks, and great places to eat, shop and see.
Please feel free to ask me if you would like to know anything else.
It certainly seemed like there was enough parking for everyone when we were there. We parked right in front of our room. I don't know if there is any additional parking.
The walk to Baker Street is about a 10 minute walk downhill. Coming back will take a bit longer but it's definitely doable. If you drive downtown, there are a number of metered spots.
Nelson is a very cool place!
