not scary or jumpy at all. it's very interesting historically, and it gives a great illustration of how the time and events were back then. they do talk about the murders somewhat graphically but not in a gory fashion. we crossed the wall that separated the west end of london from the east end, which is not really advertised anywhere and you can see the original pub of that era. the guides are professional and first rate. it's a serious and somber presentation, not comical or Hollywood-ish.
If you want to take children, it's a little scary for them. I'd say for kids 10 or younger it's a little unnerving. One option if you take younger children, stay towards to back of the group where they won't hear all the gory details....of course, YOU won't hear quite as well either.
