Yes the park is open in October. Beautiful views. And from the car park there is shuttle buses to the castle also. Just check for tour times if you want to see inside the castle as these have to be purchased. Rest of national park is free.

You can visit all year round. I personally can't wait to see those valleys in the winter. Rainy days with low cloud can add to the atmosphere of the place. As some of the other reviewers said it may be wet and muddy so make sure you have good walking boots and wet weather gear if planning on exploring the trail paths.
Yes you can but, whilst touring round the castle is no problem, the grounds could be muddy and wet. Pick a dry day and it will be fine.
