Metro Bike Easy Green Travel Questions & Answers

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Hi, we have 3 days in KL, of which I would like to spend a day in Langkawi. If i fly into Langkawi in the morning, will I be able to visit the cable car and do the island hopping tour (3 hours or so) and be back at the airport by night? I can book a day in advance. We are a couple with our 6 year old daughter. We will be there on the 21st of July 2015. Thanks.

For time being, Metro Bike only offers bike and trishaw tour services in Penang not Langkawi.

Thank you

Hi LagunaGypsy and Amber. Thanks for the response. I realise its too much to do within a day. I might skip Langkawi and visit Penang. Just chill around in Penang for a day and back to KL.

Thanks,

DaDruid.

We spent one day in Langkawi arriving early in the morning. I had a private car take us to the geopark. There we took a small boat to the bat caves, a fishery of sorts to show the indigenous water life, and watched the white bellied fish eagles. All very kid friendly. Then we had the driver take us directly to the cable car. If I remember correctly it was about a 45 min drive. The wait for the cable car can be excruciating. You can pay extra to get ahead of some of the people. There's also a film they force you to watch, which is annoying when you're in a hurry! You can also arrange ahead of time to have a private cable car take you up. We were able to comfortably do this all in one day, plus have a couple of brief stops to see see some beaches and take photos. HOWEVER, we met several people that did the reverse order. (cable car in the am) and sight seeing afterwards. The lines to get in the cable car were over an hour, and hot. They were miserable and too tired after standing and fighting the crowds. Also if the day is hazy the views aren't the best and a bit disappointing. If I had to pick one or the other, with kids I'd pick the boat and seeing the bats, (easy walking) and the eagles. (PS they'll love the spitting fish!)

Hello I'm not certain but I think that would be pushing it time wise. An internal flight to Langkawi is about an hour, but Malaysia is notorious for running late and you'd be relying on quite a few things to run on time.

If you could spare an overnight stay in Langkawi I would recommend that.

Also, if you're staying in the state of KL the taxi to the airport is about an hour, then hour flight, then travel to the cable car - so 3 or 4 hours before seeing anything - that could be a long day for a 6 year old??

I hope that's of some help :)
