We have a booking here as part of a flight with Malaysian airline due to a long stop over. Can someone please confirm if you have to clear customs and immigration to access the hotel? I'm thinking you do but both the travel agent we've booked with and the company handling the booking have said no..
We are Land side hotel so you need to clear customs and immigrations to enter to our hotel .
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any assistance..
Yes you must clear customs/immigration. only the Sama Sama Express in within the terminal
You should have plenty of time even if you have to clear customs (depending on which Sama Sama you are booked into). For that amount of time I am assuming you just want somewhere to crash and relax so the Express would be better and then you wouldn't have the added time for immigration. If you have your boarding pass and luggage all the way through you will have plenty of time, otherwise there's the added time in queues before your next leg. Make sure you know which Sama Sama you are booked into. For your purposes the Express is probably best and the Sama Sama outside the airport would cause extra stress and might be a waste of money. It is a lovely hotel though.
Hello there are 2 sama sama hotels the airport one is called sama sama express and you dont have to clear customs
Please double check the voucher. If it says Sama Sama Hotel, definitely you have to clear Customs and Immigration. If it says Sama Sama Express then you don't have to. In KUL airport there are two terminals. KLIA and KLIA2. Malaysian Airlines flies to and from KLIA and low cost carriers like AirAsia operates from KLIA2. So you will be flying to KLIA. (FYI there is only one Sama Sama Hotel which is adjoining KLIA but OUTSIDE so have to clear Customs. There are two Sama Sama Express hotels in KLIA and KLIA2 but both are INSIDE so no need to clear Customs.) Hope it is clear now.
There are 2 Sama Sama hotels at KLIA...there is the "main" Sama Sama hotel (which used to be called The Pan Pacific) which is located outside KLIA (there original terminal) and you'd have to clear customs & immigration as it's just outside the terminal (can be accessed via a walkway).
There is also Sama Sama Express which is apparently situated at KLIA2 and from what I've read you don't have to clear customs...but I've not personally stayed there so unsure if you can get to this airport from KLIA...I'm pretty sure there are Trip Advisor reviews for Sama Sama Express...maybe there will be a better answer there?
In my earlier reply I presumed that your passport is from a country which has visa free access to Malaysia. Otherwise things may be little complicated.
Yes. You have to clear Customs and Immigration which is very quick.
(Yes. We too were misled by well meaning people. That is because there is a mini hotel called Sama Sama Express which is inside the airport and for that you don't have to clear Customs. That is different from proper Sama Sama Hotel.)
Following is from Sama Sama Hotel.
"Upon clearing customs, turn right and look out for the elevator to go to Level 2. There will be signs leading towards the Sama-Sama Hotel. A complimentary 2-minutes buggy service is provided to and from the Airport every 5 minutes. If you do not spot the buggy, kindly use the intercom on the billboard to ask for assistance."
Enjoy Sama Sama hospitality. We sure did.
Yes you will have to clear customs and immigration. The hotel is not in the airport but right next to it.
Hi, yes you do! If you have an overnight layover, it is well worth it. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat and would deliberately try and have some extra hours to use all the facilities. Meals aren’t cheap but they are good quality.
Thank you all - I'm flying from Adelaide on an Australian passport so should have no issues with a visa. My real concern is the time to clear customs and immigration. We arrive at approximately 3 pm and have a just over 8 hours before our next flight. We won't need to collect our luggage but am worried about how much time immigration and customs will take. Sorry for all the questions - bit of a nervous traveller!!
