Hey! I'm going to be traveling to Malaysia in a month, and I'll be staying there for 3 whole days. I need help planning my trip. I want to see all the main attractions and I would love to visit places with lots of nature and wildlife , with my family. Any ideas?
If you planned to stay in Kuala Lumpur, then there are a few places that you can go to:
1. Perdana Botanical Garden, formerly known as Taman Tasik Perdana or Lake
Gardens. Originally created as part of a recreational park but planted with collections of tropical plants, the garden have been rehabilitated and turned into a Botanical Garden. The garden have not only botanical collections but also house features that give the visitors the ambiance of being in a tropical rainforest, despite being in the middle of a bustling metropolis.
2. Other attractions at the Perdana Botanical Garden are the KL Bird Park, KL Butterfly Park, KL Planetarium and it is also a walking distance to the National Museum.
3. Batu Caves is also a great place to visit.
But if you are planning to stay longer, there are many other natures and wildlife to experience in Malaysia. For example the National Park in Kuala Tembeling in Pahang, longhouse experience in Kuching, Sarawak or to Mount Kinabalu in Sabah.
We stayed at Langkawi..40mins flight from KL......the birdpark we visited was actually in Langkawi. We travelled from the Berja Hotel to the Birdpark and took us 20 mins at the most. The island isn't very big so from the airport just 30-35 mins apprx. If you do decide to visit, go early in the morning, take plenty of water with you.. some parts of the park are hot..but you can walk through areas and stay as long as you wish. You can buy food for the animals very cheap...if you're early the animals are all hungry. There is a walkthrough aviary of Budgerigars.. all free ..just to warn little ones, perhaps adults also...they will land on you and the guides inside will give you food..if this doesn't appeal to you I would suggest telling reception when purchasing the tickets. It is a continuous walkthrough the park. A good half day excursion.
I agree with baketown answer. My advice is to follow his.
There are many places you might want to try. However, if you are staying in the center of the city like the golden triangle area, the following places you can easily visit in 3 days:
Day1: Kuala Lumpur Birdpark and butterfly park
Evening goto Petronas Twin Towers and the mall inside in called KLCC (Suria Kuala Lumpur city center Mall).
Day 2: Take the free GoKL bus and stop at Central Market handicraft center
Evening go to the tourist trap places called the Pavilion Mall and the surrounding shopping area (Farenheit, Lot10, Sungai Wang Plaza). then walk over to the Alor street or Jalan Alor hawker food street for dinner.
Day 3: take your pick to any of the followings:
Batu Cave (limestone cave with a Hindu temple)
Royal Selangor visitor center
Thean Hou Temple
