I'm scheduled to stay at Lankayan September 27-29th next week. Can anyone that's stayed here in mid/late September 2016 or September in previous years how likely my chances are of seeing nesting/turtles released to sea?
I think I saw that they post the estimated dates of when they will hatch/be released (I could be wrong though) so if anyone remember their predictions for September please let me know!!
Thank you :)
Hi, we were there last week and in our 2 nights there, we saw turtles being released on both days. Turtle eggs usually take about 2 months to hatch - we saw many unhatched eggs which were buried in late July, so perhaps these are likely to hatch when you're there :) Having said that, it's definitely not an exact science - so you should just hope for the best! Turtles or no turtles, the island is simply stunning! Enjoy your time there and good luck :)
