Taxi to this hotel should be around rmb 180 incl all toll, unless very serious traffic Going back to hotel from airport, better have hotel call you a taxi well in advance. This hotel has no driveway, so no idle taxi waiting around for airport passengers. And finding a taxi on street is not often easy. If u hv local mobile number, use uber or didi.

Unless u travel very light, taking subway is exhausting and dreadful if you have the luxury of time and energy to go for an experience. There might be a lift from subway level to the street level, i didnt remember where that is located; otherwise stairway.

If you arrive at Pudong airport where most international flights lands, the taxi from the airport taxi Q will bring you to Penta Hotel for RMB250-300, depending on the traffic. For public transport, you can take the Maglev train and change to underground at Longyang station for Zhongshan Park Station on Line 2. It's a 7 minute walk from the station to hotel. This is one of the reasons for choosing this hotel.

Getting there from either airport - Pudong or Hongqiao - is easy.

The Maglev from Pudong is fun (roughly 80-100RMB roundtrip) and from the Maglev terminal, Longyang Road, you're on line 2 of the metro all the way to Zhongshan Park. From there it is a short walk to the hotel. Total journey time, roughly 1hr15. During daytime it is probably more reliable than a taxi but remember that the last Maglev either way runs at about 2130. After that the metro line 2 goes all the way to or from Pudong, but stops fairly early (around 2200). If you think you'll miss the last Maglev from town, pick up a taxi somewhere like People's Square....becasue you'll be ripped off if you look for one at Longyang Road after hours!!

Coming from Hongqiao, it is the same line 2 but it is a bit quicker and of course you won't need to take the Maglev.

As for sorting out your groung transport in advance, there's no need.

Have fun in Shanghai!
