I am in UK and my son is visiting New York and asking me to book somewher fro 20th November for few nights in Colorado springs- hes already bought the ticket to Denver international. Im not familiar with sates unfortunately so struggling a bit! He is 223 and wants to see some of the nature of the area and sight seeing and the natural beauty, maybe mountain hiking although maybe too snowy/cold! maybe a dip in the hot springs?? but he doesn't drive. Is there public transport to the attractions nearby? is this place walking distsance to any of them or and are taxis expensive if not? Irf you can offer any advice I would be very grateful! Thank you , LInda
There are two services that you might already know about:
They are Uber and Lyft which are much cheaper than Taxis.
There are buses of course that one recent couple from Europe took to travel around and had no problem with
All this info can be planned before hand and is available in the Internet
In this answer it does not allow me to submit any HTML messages/ website addresses to you
I would start at the Colorado Springs Visitor's Center which is downtown
This is Zeno at The St. Mary's Inn
You may want to visit the Colorado Springs Visitor's Bureau website ?
Inn is in a residential area near downtown Colorado Springs. It is very lovely. We did take a taxi to an out of the way restaurant and did not find it very expensive though that might be relative. There is much to see and do in the area. Don't know about buses etc. He should go to Garden of the Gods--good for hiking and downtown Manitou Springs--good for a funky town feeling. Shouldn't be too bad in a taxi. It would be better to contact St. Mary's staff for definitive answers. He can reach them by telephone.
Whatever your son wants to do and undertake while visiting Colorado Springs, when staying at St. Mary's Inn, he will have a family away from home and a good base to explore the area. Zeno and his staff (family) will guide and support him to the max. This is a wonderful place that you really is the best for a stay in the area.
We used our own car for transportation so we are not familiar taxis, etc. If your son is flying into Denver, he will need to make arrangements to get to Colorado Springs since Denver is a bit of a drive. There is much to see and do in CS. I would guess the weather will be fairly cool and there may be snow. I would call St. Mary's Inn to get better information. We do recommend the Inn.
