How choppy are the waters in August? Is this a trip for someone who is scared of boats?

My wife and I had never been on any boat in the Gulf. Most of the tour is around the interior islands where the waters are calm and we seen so many dolphins and wild birds! It was amazing. The water was calm and the Captain said the water would rarely be more than 5 feet deep. I have to honest and tell you by the time we were ready to go into the Gulf the wind had begun to gust and the water was VERY choppy. The Captain was a pro and immediately turned the boat around and returned to the Marina. We both think it was the most fun ever and can't wait to do it again. I highly recommend it! We were enjoying the sunset cruise.

My wife is not a fan of the ocean or boats in general and was perfectly fine. Great crew and steady boats. Not sure about Aug vs other months but I am sure they would not go out in high swells.

don't know about August but they do drop you off and go to the other side of island and there is no bathroom or water or anything on the island just seashells

We went in February and the chop wasn't bad at all. If you are prone to seasickness, bring something regardless. My issue was when the boat was not moving and just swayed side to side. You are in the middle of the Gulf - be prepared.

The tour starts in the bay then right before sunset goes into the gulf. If water is rough they won't go into the gulf. Very protective of the guests.

august is usually ok for fishing, not any more choppy than most months. they monitor the weather closly and usually cancel any trips that might be uncomfortable. these trips are not scary at all, very uneventful, good captains, steady boats.
