I know that cars can be backed up on Beach Road as they wait to get into Nauset Beach. When this happens, how do I reach the motel? Is there someone who waves you around traffic? Or is there another way to get to the motel?
The cars pretty much leave a gap at the driveway. We`ve never not been able to get out or in. Cape Cod is a little different than other resort type towns. People seem much more courteous and friendly. Cape Cod air has that effect. No kidding!
There is only one way on to the motel grounds & that is Beach Road. There won't be anyone to wave you in.
My advice is to simply plan your days out. Obviously, LEAVING Nauset Knolls in the morning won't be a problem as you will be going against the incoming beach traffic, so your route out to Orleans will be clear. Coming back to the lodge, incoming traffic will probably thin out after 12 noon or so (as everyone who wants to spend the day on Nauset will generally already be there).
If you want to make a breakfast/coffee/grocery run, just be sure to get out very early (say 7 or 8) & you won't have a prob getting back to the lodge (and the beach!).
Hope this helps! Enjoy your stay, once you're there you won't want to leave anyway so I hope you won't have any traffic problems...
