Are there any parking at the snow play area in Thredbo Alpine Village. Like to take my kids there and we will be based at Cooma so will be traveling there by car. Where is the best place to park and are parking limited in July?
Howdy Sydney837, barb329 pretty much covered it, also take into consideration the wild life and traffic when travelling early in the morning, also look at catching the chair lift to the top and having a good look around and remember to take some cold weather snow cloths and shoes.
Yes there is parking near Friday Flat. This is the best place to take the children. You need to pay to enter the National Park. You can get a day pass or one for longer. From memory it is about $30 to enter park for day pass. While at Friday Flat there is a free shuttle bus to and from the Thredbo Village which is about 800 metres away. There are also some food outlets at Friday Flat. At the actual village there are shops and eating places. At Friday Flat there is a beginners slope for first time skiers and also an area for toboggans and/or making snowmen. You can hire all your gear I think at Friday Flat and definitely in the village. It is worth also a visit to the Village while there. If travelling in the snow season you will need to carry chains which may be needed as you get to the higher mountain in the National Park. You can hire them in Cooma. It is compulsory to apply chains if they say that they are necessary. This does not always happen. However if you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, I don't think it is always compulsory. You need to check on this in Cooma.
