It is right beside an I-26 exit. I've not driven far beyond the hotel, but never had a problem. The parking lot is partially fenced in. Several other nearby hotels and restaurants.
When we tried to find a hotel with available rooms nearby for other family members, the staff advised against it because the proximity to the highway made them magnets for "hourly" rooms/guests. But I never felt unsafe at this hotel. It has a relatively large footprint (not squeezed between other businesses) with its own entrance, and the staff proved to me that they keep a close eye on the premises. It is also a hotel with interior hallways and not a motel with exterior hallways. It felt very private and isolated even though it was near a busy intersection. There are several restaurants and stores within walking distance. We went to several of them and never felt unsafe.
The area around the hotel is safe.
