120 steps from the Old Gift Shop to the cave door.

All seven of the Texas show caves have stairs, declines and inclines (Wonder Cave is the only one with an elevator). However, our cave has the shortest overall walking distance.

Not too steep of an incline but a lot of walking

It's a fairly long walk down but mostly a steady decline. The two small children in the group with me didn't have a problem.

The walk up is quite a work out. Two ladies had to take a breather, including my wife. I did not count the steps but guess about 50. It was also quite hot that day in the upper 90's. Our tour guide was good about not rushing and let people catch their breath at the end. If you have poor strength in your legs or breathing problems you may consider this too much. If you are of normal health, you should be OK.

It is not the number of steps, rather the path is narrow and wet. The kids in our group had no problems, but someone with difficulty walking is better off waiting in the visitor center. My daughter had a cast on her leg and it was too much for her.
