Hi! We will be staying at this resort in February. We are taking a small charter plane from Arenal to Punta Isla - has anyone done this? How scary is it??
We drove and I'm not sure about the planes. I can guarantee though that once you get there you'll realize how special the place is! The drive from Liberia was not bad and it's fun to see the countryside.
We didn't take the charter plane but I've heard it's the way to go!! Saves so much time and you really don't need a car there. It's probably a little scary but just close your eyes - you'll be fine! Enjoy your stay!!
Hi there, you will be so glad you did this. Roads in CR are very curvy, twisted and it is a long road to get to the property. By flying into the local airport, you are only about a 15 min. drive away from the resort! You will be so glad you did this.
I have not but I hear its quite an awesome adventure... you might want to ask for the airline's safety record, but if they are safe I would say don't pass up on it... one of those things you will look back at and remember forever.
Yes we have done it. Really not that scary. I think the plane had about 12 seats and 2 pilots. The "airport" or runway next to the cow pasture is a bit scary on first sight but the plane arrived on time.
If you are flying back to San Jose you will most likely have another stop on the way, FYI.
Enjoy one of our favorite spots on Earth.
Never flown but sure it is OK. Concrete landing strip which is good. I would have flown but timing was a push with driving due to connections.
Great way to do it... done it. it is easy and as safe as any other flight. I use Carmona air . They were 100% reliable and responsible. Enjoy that magical time in Costa Rica
We did not use this option . It really is a personal preference, and what meets your needs. We had the resort pick us up and take us back to the airport. Yes some of the roads are dirt roads. But we would be comfortable to rent a car and drive ourselves now. (would be a 4 wheel drive SUV) Have a wonderful vacation.
