Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom

Hi my wife and I are visiting Boston next year and looking for a cheap but nice hotel. Would please take some time to answer the following questions

Is the neighbourhood safe?

What room type did you have, as we do not want to share a bathroom

Are you close to the city centre and Bostons attractions?

Anywhere you recommend to eat?

Anything you would recommend doing whilst in Boston.

Did yountravel from the airport and if you did, how did you get to,the hotel. Was it by taxi and how much was it?

The Copley is a cheap, in relative terms, to the nearby high end major chain hotels a couple of blocks away. Apart from what you would expect in any major city, safety was a minimal concern. We rented a car for travel outside of the metro area but purchased a three-day subway (Tube) pass for inner city exploring. Look for a Go Boston or similar city attractions pass. There's a great hop-on, hop-off city tour bus - recommend this if you have at least 3 days in the city - that will get you to every Boston sightseeing spot worth seeing. Get the one with the most stops. We enjoyed the Charles River tour (not the 'duck' boats), the Museum of Science, the brand new shopping mall (can't recall the name) but ask for or Google the 'Eatalia' - you'll think you're shopping in a genuine Italian supermarket, the walking area/plaza where the Cheers bar is located, the Boston Common, and the U.S.S. Constitution to name a few. The Union House (oldest continuously operating eatery in Boston) is worth a visit - make sure to wander around all three floors - ask to dine at President JFK's favorite booth upstairs. Lots to do in Beantown!

We had our own bathroom, but make sure you ask. There are less expensive rooms that do share a bathroom. An efficiency has a mini kitchen. It was a clean room. Boston is a pricy city for hotel rooms. It depends on the time of year. It really does fluctuate in price. The end of May was about $100 less for the same room in August. In May, the Copley was less expensive than other nearby hotels/motels in the same area. The other hotels compared, were average, so you probably will be getting a fair price. The neighborhood is safe and in a great location, close to subway lines which are nearby at the Prudential Center.

This is a very quaint boutique hotel in the Back Bay area and we felt very safe. We had our own bathroom and a mini-kitchen. Very clean and comfortable. We were on the ground floor. It was small, but we were never in our room (too much to do in Boston). If you are used to a 5 star hotel, you will be disappointed, but we absolutely loved the Copley House and will stay there again when we return to Boston.

It's about a $30 taxi ride from the airport. The location is pretty centrally located, and we felt it was easy to get around. We are walkers, so we walked most places (Fenway Park for a baseball game, the Freedom Trail, the Cheers bar, etc.) but you can take one of the Duck Tours (boarding station very close to the Copley House near the Prudential Center) or one of the Hop On, Hop Off tours. The front desk staff is wonderful and can give you good recommendations for things to do/see and places to eat (eat where the locals eat!). Enjoy your stay!

The Copley has lots of small apartments in the Back Bay Area. Ours was a small basement space with access directly outside via a back doorway. We entered from The front door.

It was a five minute walk from the Prudential building and the same from Copley Square.

We took the hop on hop off bus and the Duck tour.

There are plenty of places to eat nearby and Newman Street is worth a visit.

Taxi from airport was about $25.

Boston has a lot to see.

Enjoy your visit, we did
