are there hotels in the area? If so, please refer to some by name.
Sorry jus saw this... I don't know honestly
Yes! Many! Goggle hotels Cottenwood heights area.
Yes many along I 15 area, 7200 south is the exit to the canyon. google map
There are lots of hotels in SLC at all different price points. Also the Inn at Solitude is in the canyon as well as Brighton Lodge.
Yes to all that the other reviewers have said. Within 30 minutes you could be from your hotel to the canyon and feel like you've escaped to the mountains. I've only used airbnb and had good experiences with that as well.
One of the great things about both Big and Little cottonwood canyons is they are CLOSE. You could stay anywhere in Sandy, Salt Lake, Midvale area and be close (within 20-30 minutes). Otherwise there are the ski resorts - Solitude and Brighton but they would be much more expensive. Just search for hotels in midvale/sandy.
There is a Hyatt Place and Courtyard by Marriott a few minutes from the mouth of the Canyon, maybe 1/2 a mile from the "Ski Connection" parking area. There are another half dozen or so another 5-10 minutes further west off of the beltline.
In the canyon itself there is The Inn at Solitude and Brighton Lodge, both located at the ski resorts. Outside the canyon the closest area of hotels would be in Fort Union/Midvale. There a Holiday in Express, Extended Stay America and many others. This area has a ton of food options and easy freeway access. It is located 5 minutes from the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Another option would be to stay at the Snowbird or Alta ski resorts which are up Little Cottonwood Canyon. The mouths of each canyon are only 10 minutes apart.
