Hi, i would like to know how I could get the Pagoda from Galle.. Is there any bus to take ?? How long does he trip take ??
Don't miss the Jungle beach though! It's a lovely hidden little beach with calm shallow water. On the way up/down there's a little restaurant that doesn't really look like much from the outside but we got some really ice cold beers and seafood filled fried rice which tasted really fresh. Got a table looking over the bay towards Galle.
hi you could, get a taxi (tuktuk) from Galle town and request them to drop you over there, how ever it is located close to the Unawatuna Beach wich is well famous. the time from Galle to the location max 30 mnts and not more than 10 Kms from the city, pls. use google map always to avoid any misleading...
Probably the best way is to get a tuk-tuk.
Earlier this year I paid LKR400 for one way tripwhich takes about 20 minutes. The driver also helped me find Hanuman Shrine that is only 30 meters away.
You may wish to also visit Unawatuna beach and/or Jungle Beach. If so, negotiate with tuk-tuk driver up front. It worked for me really well.
Hi, I am not sure about the Bus - the best Idea is to take local Tuk-Tuk :-) Another way is to take the train, but Tuk-tuk is very interesting attraction and it will stay in your memory forever. Tuk-Tuk can stop just two minutes by walk from the Pagoda, for smal "bakshish" can park almot directly before the stairs :-)
Have a nice day and enjoy the trip !!! BR, Zdenek
I think you would need to take a tuk tuk at least part of the way. Either a tuk tuk the whole way - approx USD5 or one of many buses from Galle bus station along the coast, get off at Unawatuna and then tuk tuk. You can see the Pagoda from the Galle Ramparts facing the cricket ground if you look across the sea. Journey would take 30 - 45 minutes maximum. You could also take a taxi which would be quicker but cost more. Enjoy!
From Galle, you can take the Habaraduwa bus and it is only a 20 min journey (sometimes even 15min). Then you have to get down near road to Rumassala and travel by tuk tuk about 10 min uphill passing jungle beach. You can hire a tuk tuk very easily there and also can walk on foot the returning journey downhill while vising jungle beach.
