Villa Belvedere Questions & Answers

Canal Fulton, Ohio

If we take the train into Como how much would it cost by bus or boat to get to the hotel Villa Belvedere? Would it be better to drive? Our cruise ends in Venice and we are coming up to Lake Como for just 2 days.

Hi. I can't remember exactly but it would be about €10 by ferry from Como to Argegno. It is a lovely trip and you can wave at George Clooney on your way. Then it's a two minute walk from the Argegno wharf to the hotel. The bus stop is also close to the hotel and it will only cost you about €3 but the bus can be crowded and noisy. If you get the bus, sit on the right side as the view is fabulous. A car is fine but if you only have two nights there then, you can do plenty of exploring on the ferries and not worry about negotiating the narrow roads.

As suggested the hotel is adjacent to the passenger ferry stop and is a great part of the experience. However be aware that outside the peak summer months the timetable is very restricted. We were there in May and the first ferry did not leave until late morning.

By boat it is beside the hotel. Easy access. It should cost around 13 euros approx. it is definetly better to drive. Beautiful scenery.

Hi

Aside from the suggestions already posted - maybe contact the hotel directly as they are very well located for water taxis or road. If its budget related then once you know the likely costs you can make your decision.

Personally we used all methods of travel in Italy ( train, car, plan, ferry) and so long as you book seats/ hire in advance, and do your own research, you should find all offer their own merits :-) as your time is limited this will also play a factor - & do check for strikes on the metro for any journeys that you may be planning on taking that way you hve a plan B in place of the worst occurs! Happy travelling :-)

I agree...drive, or if weather permits, take the slow ferry.

Hello - It's been a few months since I got there, but i don't remember it being more than 10 euros per person. I tried the bus and ferry. On a nice sunny day, I'd go for the slow ferry. The slower ferry is faster than the bus. The road is very bendy/ twisty. So my wife didn't enjoy it at all. The ferry stop in Argegno is right outside the hotel. I think the ferry is the best way to see the Lakes. Driving is ok too, but the roads can be super narrow in some villages...When i was on the bus, I was glad that I didn't drive. There is parking at the hotel, so parking shouldn't be a problem. Hope this help?
