backpacker31's City Tips

  • If arriving/departing via KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport), the KLIA Ekspres airport rail link is an efficient and economical way to/from Kuala Lumpur's city center.
  • Keep your bag, purse, etc. close to your body, especially while standing at a street corner as 'snatch-and-grab' tactics from passing motorcycles are not unheard of.
  • Prepare for rain and heat/humidity - carry an umbrella, wear comfortable shoes and lightweight clothing.
  • Dine at Jalan Alor - famous for its hawker stalls. Best time is in the early evening, around 5:30pm, just before the crowds.
  • Utilize KL's public transportation which features an extensive network of trains, buses and monorails - all very efficient and quite inexpensive.

Kuala Lumpur's iconic landmark. A must-see for every first-time visitor. There is a pleasant park with a watercourse, fountains and paved pathways behind the towers. At the base of the towers is Suria KLCC - a large mall featuring an array of international luxury brands, a theatre, aquarium and a science center.
