The best and cheapest place to stay in KL is KL Sentral which has the largest transport hub in South East Asia. There are as many as 6 modes of transport available from here which includes monorail, local train, express train and intercity express and of course buses. You can travel from KLIA2 Airport to KL Sentral by SKYBUS, AEROBUS OR AIRPORT EXPRESS for only 10 RM and return is available for 18 RM SKYBUS is operated by AIRASIA and tickets can be purchased online,in the counter in arrival lounge and also in the bus itself. Buses leave every 1/2 hour and takes about 45 mins. From KL Sentral These buses ply from 5 am to 12 AM. you can go anywhere by these public transports Batu cave can be visited by local train while you can go to Genting Highland by a bus from here. You can go to KLCC(Kualalumpur City Center)by taking a local train. From KLCC, Free buses ply to different places of tourist interest within the city.,there are two routes ---green line and purple line and one goes to Butik Bintang, the posh area of KL where all the big shopping malls, bars, restaurants, massage parlors and other entertainments are available. The famous Petronus Twin Towers are located in KLCC .KL Sentral has the highest concencentration of hotels, ranging from 5 star hotels to backpackers hotels.Good 3 star hotels are available for 60-75 RM while cheaper accomodations are available in Brickfield area just opposite KL Sentral in the red light district. These hotels are totally safe. I once stayed with my wife for 1 night on my way to Tokyo. There is a very peaceful co existance between the hotels and the cat houses-- no disturbance or interference. On the the other hand, being a red light area the place is crowded even at 11pm Many Indian eateries are located here where North Indian as well as South Indian dishes are available at a very reasonable price. Many convenience stores includIng 7/11 are also present in this locality So, as a backpacker who has traveled to many Asian countries and Australia via KL byAirasia who offers promo air tickets to almost all ASIAN countries at an unbelievable price thus making backpackers to see places at an affordable price, I strongly suggest to stay in KL Sentral area where accomodation, transport, food and easy movement to airport is available
