Enrique A's City Tips

  • Don't forget to keep yourself hydrated and protected from the sun; use sunscreen and a hat or umbrella.
  • Please be respectful towards the flora and fauna of the area, this means you can't touch or disturb the turtles nor grab corals or other types of marine life.
  • If you are thinking of moving around in a taxi, you should talk with the driver and establish a rate per day or rate according to hours and places you plan to go for the day.
  • Because of the weather, I highly recommend that you wear comfortable footwear and clothing and also carry an extra pair of each just in case you get a bit sweaty.
  • In some places, you can bring your own snacks and beverages and have a lovely picnic; in other spots there are restaurants nearby where you can take a break.
  • Colectivos (transport vans) are the cheapest and easiest way to get around; you can flag them down the on the highway and they charge depending on the distance you are going.
  • Getting to Akumal is quite easy; you can either rent a car if your budget allows it or you can take a taxi or colectivo.

    Enrique A Says:

Turtle Bay has a lot of options on their breakfast menu, which means that to begin your day you should arrive with an empty stomach! You'll need plenty of space for their Chilaquiles, Hobo-Eggs and Mayan Steak — but check out the whole menu, as there is something to suit everyone.
