Points of Interest

1. Restrictions

Again, a list of things you can't do...

2. Levee Path

This hike, along the levee, is a flat, fast hike. It's a great surface, but there are lots of goose droppings.

3. Geese Overhead

Tens of thousands of cackling and dusky Canada geese frequent the slough in the spring and fall. You'll walk right among them on the levee, as others fly overhead.

4. Waterfowl on the Slough

There are dozens of species of waterfowl on the sloughs, the trick is learning to tell them apart.

5. Flocks on the Water

You can find rafts of hundreds of ducks and geese, as well as coots, on the slough. They're skittish, so bring a long lens to take pictures.

6. Ranger Station

The refuge offices are here, but they're closed on weekends.

7. Fields of Geese

These farm fields are part of the refuge and are often stripped bare by geese.
