The interior of Northern Spain is not a common destination for UK tourists and Hotel Palacios was just a randomly chosen one night stopover for us. Don't be put off by the approach to the town which is industrial and unattractive. Alfaro itself is delightful and the storks' nests on the Church roof are amazing, worth the trip alone. The church itself is incredible, and the old town well worth exploring.
Best of all though, the Hotel Palacios was without doubt the best we stayed in out of the nine we used to travel from the UK to the Costa Blanca and back.
The room was spacious, modern, spotlessly clean, beds comfortable, breakfast excellent, the staff very friendly and welcomed us in English. The on-site cafe and bar is used by locals as well as guests and has a great atmosphere. Best of all, the value of both the room and food is outstanding.
There are displays on the walls showing local tourist attractions and the countryside beyond Alfaro is full of lovely scenery and attractive villages. We shall definitely return for a longer stay!
I recently visited the palacios on my drive through Spain, the hotel is located not far from the motorway at the start of the village, the staff were very welcoming and although I speak some Spanish the waitress in the hotel restaurant went to get someone who spoke perfect English to take our order. The room was very clean and even had a terrace which was a bonus as we had our dog with us.
Fully recommend this hotel.
We stopped for one night driving up from Javea to Basque area. Good car-parking in front of hotel, easy check in and a comfortable room on the third floor at the back of the hotel. Air- conditioning worked well and the bed was great. Breakfast was fine with a good variety of choice. Reception staff spoke some English.
We ate our evening meal at the hotel in a small dining area at the front of the hotel . The waiter spoke little English but was very helpful and patient with our attempts to communicate. The service and food exceeded our expectations in quality and was excellent value. Since we wanted to eat early (8:30 pm) and were the first customers most of the other dining groups were families with young children but this was not a problem. There seemed to be another dining area inside the hotel where a large coach group went to eat.
We would be very happy to use this hotel again if driving through the region. The hotel's immediate vicinity is very commercial and we did not have time to go exploring but when we drove away the next day we went through a much more inviting area just north of the hotel.
Very friendly staff, good cafeteria and bar, large parking-Place, in the near of the City-Center, a good organized staff / sometimes I could hear my neighbours in the next room talking and discussing /
The room was comfortable the bathroom was spacious. The food was excellent in the restaurant. The hotel is walking distance to town, Stork watchers paradise in the Center. Convenient to motorway or national road.
